Are they still using GRAnaylst or have they switched to the new TruVu 3D radar that came out in August?

TWC needs to work off the bugs in TruVu before debuting these things to the public. Even the radar/satellite transitions are terrible; the radar frames constantly lag when the maps shift, as do the title bar animations. And of course the icons are still out of sync.Actually most of the issues you mentioned are more the problem of poor setup rather than the software. TruVu is very powerful and remarkable software. I use it daily at my job. The radar data is selected to pause whenever the camera shifts. That could be turned off. The title bar animations are the result of the graphic effect (in this case they are use "light sheen") is added to each show element/slide rather than to the overall show. That means it resets each time the graphic changes. This could be made to look a lot better with a little tweaking.
Last year there was a survey by The Weather Channel on possible new names for the channel's id on cable guides. Maybe WEA was the highest rated.WEA is sometimes used because of confusion caused by TWC. ie. Time Warner Cable. It will vary by cable company
My cable company uses TWC and TWC HD.
Happy tax day! I hope most of you who have taxes didn't procrastinate and have filed all of them correctly and on time. If not, you have until midnight tonight to do so As for myself, I got my taxes done a couple of weeks agoUgh tax season sucks just about as much as the pollen.
I took these photos of what looks like a shelf cloud approaching the New Brunswick NJ area. It was much darker outside compared to the color shown in the photos. Just minutes after we had some strong thunderstorms and rain from that cloud. The temp dipped from 84 degrees in the afternoon to just 60 now. What do u think?Great pics!!
If TWC is going to eliminate full screen LOT8s for IS and IS2 viewers, they would also have to think about adding new LDLs and squeezebacks for legacy STAR units that are still in use by some cable headends Otherwise, XL, 4000 and Junior viewers won't be able to see their local weather anymore.Legacy STAR units are dead. Its only a matter of time, probably within the next 12-24 months before the old backend feed is killed. Most of the units are probably held together by dust and its frankly a miracle that they are still functioning as well as they are. I'm sad to see them go but servicing and running 20+ year old computers isn't practical, profitable or sensible. Even the current IS hardware will likely be revised in the coming years as that hardware is approaching nearly a decades worth of use.
Haha, TWC just wasted tons of money on the IS2 deployment only for the LOT8s to be scrapped. Not sure how you figure that. Pushing high definition video to a headend requires massive amounts of computer equipment and the on air graphics are still going to be generated using it. The STARs are more than LOT8s.
Too much information is just as bad as too little information.Very true. Its part of the reason why the Local on the 8s has changed to a simpler form. When the IS launched it was all about features, features, features! Bus forecasts, ski forecasts, getaway forecasts, etc. Now its a more concise set of information geared toward whats relevant to the user.
