It looks like a PowerPoint presentation.

It does look like a PowerPoint presentation. Not a bad start for the DirecTV LF's, though they could've made them longer.

Also for the people wanting some sort of transition, I really think it's not possible. The SD boxes are very low powered boxes and probably can only handle whats being thrown at it right now. But, now that I think about it... they could maybe make the transitions a "video" type thing, but I don't know. A transition made by the box I think its pretty impossible due to the underpowerful boxes, maybe the HD ones, but not SD.

You have a good point there. If my box were a satellite box, it will definitely not handle animated graphics. Heck, it takes 5-10 seconds to load a non-animating TV guide.

It shows the Satellite LF instead. Why is it doing that?

I saw the Youtube video, GREAT IDEA TWC!!!  However, to me, the local on the 8's graphics look a little stiff.  Like they were fan made.  It is just me?

Any word of Dish Network getting this?

Another member who has DISH told me his LDL wasn't running on the satellite lf. Maybe they're gettin' it too.

So the satellite IntelliStars have been discontinued because of this new feature?

No. They're still around, but apparently they've turned off the LDL during local forecasts. IMO, this is a bad decision because not all DirecTV receivers support this new Local segment, so they should still cue the LDL for those viewers.
