Hmmm, a :90 second local at :08? Here's the proof, "Frankenstein" plays at 8:08, which is normally a :120 second LF. The video is 2:02 minutes long, but I also recorded a TWC winter weather promo and a few seconds of live programming.

Since they did away with that large weatherbar, I sure wish they would turn the XL's black bar back on!

It honestly doesn't make any sense for them not to, other than to save some computer programmer a couple of hours' worth of work.

Really, if you don't have an IntelliStar, then The Weather Channel now has precious little to offer in the way of local weather information: no LDL, no local squeezeback... just "Local on the 8s" during live programming and weather advisory scrolls.  And, considering the amount of longform programming now, the lack of the LDLs, especially, and also the squeezebacks, means you'd better hope you live in a city that's covered by whatever the national feed shows.

I didn't think to ask this at the time it happened, but are there any IntelliStar units where the almanac data comes from an AFB location? Back in Oct. 2009 when my IntelliStar unit was down after about two days of the Satellite feed, I temporarily got the Marietta IntelliStar, but I thought it was weird that the almanac data came from Hartsfield Int'l Airport. I would have thought it would come from Dobbins AFB since it's located in Marietta.

They try to stay away from most minor airport hubs like air force bases and naval air stations because they don't keep track of records as far back as international airports do (most of the AFB's and NAS's here only have record data dating back to the 1990's).

Someone uploaded with the now-defunct 3-day Extended Forecast with modified weather icons following The Week Ahead over St. Louis, MO. We all miss the 3-day Extended Forecast, and I wish I'd bring it back on the IntelliStar in the future.

So is duck and cover.  Not everything that's defunct needs to be brought back simply because it's defunct.

The "WINDY" icon was not worded in any of the Current Conditions products even with the Regional and Metro maps, as well as the LDL. Only Snow and Windy icon and Rain and Windy icon worded in the Regional and Metro maps during the Current Conditions maps. At least, we need the Partly Cloudy and Windy icon, Cloudy and Windy icon, and Sunny and Windy icon on any of the Current Conditions products along with the Regional and Metro maps, as well as the LDL in the future.
