The DirecTV LF has been down here since at least 11:58 PM ET yesterday. Ugh, this getting annoying. 

if the reciever isn't in your room but rather getting run in through a cable, could someone be pressing exit on the remote?

I have no idea where the receiver is. I assume it's somewhere on campus. I don't think anyone is pressing the remote to exit, because the "Get Local Weather Now/Clear" thing is still appearing during national programming.

I'm sorry for the double post here, but I have seen some major errors on the St Ignace XL unit. First, Channel 21 is listed on the station ID, when it is actually channel 26. I just saw the almanac, and it's telling me that sunrise is at 11:06 AM tomorrow, and sunset is at 12:09 AM.

That's weird.  I'm having this thing where the temp on the blue LDL is different from the one on the time tab on the LDL. Should I report this to the STAR team?

It could have been just a fluke, Mike.  I've heard of situations where LF songs that don't belong on the playlist get played by accident.
