April 2009 playlist delayed!

Actually, Alex, we are a bit behind with the April play list.  However, the March play list is scheduled to continue airing for a couple more weeks, through mid April most likely.

while im not complaining about the march playlist still running.. i was wondering the same thing because i would have normally heard new tracks leaking in by now..

OMG! This is HUGE news! I am dissappointed about this, but oh well. I find it virtually impossible to believe that Brian was laid off. If so, will someone replace him? If not, how will it all work?

I had a feeling the economy had to do something with the odd variety in playlists. I can't stand the March playlist, get rid of all tose reused songs already. Is it now a bi-monthly Mar/Apr playlist now?

Umm, it's the 1st of the month. Playlists RARELY start on the first of the month (at least, not since 2004 or so) and it typically happens on a Sunday. As for whether Brian is still there or not, I have no idea.

I have to think that Brian is still there. I'd think it'd be pretty hard to get rid of the music guy.

Yeah, they usually start on the 1st but it doesn't surprise me if it starts next week. But having the playlists  starting at the middle of the month {according to Melissa} is odd. The latest time I remembered a playlist starting was the Aug 2006 playlist that started weither on the 10th or 12th.

This is nothing new though. During the Steve Hurst era, playlists starting late was a common thing. I remember both the August 2006 and April 2007 playlists not starting until the second week of the month. There were also cases where the playlist would end up being carried over to the next month (i.e. Nov/Dec. 02, Aug/Sept 06).

Me neither... it's way worst than the 06/08 playlist.
And it's sucks that we has to wait for a few weeks until this crappy march 09 playlist ends.

I'm so sick of this March Playlist, I want the new songs to start, or even better why shouldn't they play Trammell or vocal music on the LF, for REAL. I almost feel like puking if this continues.

In fact, most of the songs are now annoying and am so sick of hearing them.

The Best Case scenario is just to bring back a dump list of songs from previous playlists instead of the delay.

Ugh the problem with the March list is that they used songs that have been used on past recent TWC playlists too many times. In Your Own Sweet Way, So Many Nights, Born to Groove, Indian Summer, Cool in the Shade, etc..all played less than a year from this past March. Casino, On The Upside, Golden Soul, Restless Heart, No Es Facil have played 3 or more times within the past 2 years. They need the boot. But it costs more money to license new songs instead of licensing old songs. The reason TWC airs the new music 2 or more days past the date it's supposed to start is because of licensing. They need to get the majority of the songs in the playlist licensed before they are scheduled to air.

I don't have a problem with a playlist with old songs I just prefer having a playlist with songs that were used a while ago and not so many times...

A TWC representative told me that about the Feb playlist.

Also someone I contacted sent me this message about the April playlist:

NBC is looking into how the music works and wants us to continue the current list for another couple weeks while they think about what the plans are going to be.

Bottom line...the March playlist will run for this month.
