Just Talked to melissa medori and she told me this
Actually, Alex, we are a bit behind with the April play list. However, the March play list is scheduled to continue airing for a couple more weeks, through mid April most likely.

OMG! This is HUGE news! I am dissappointed about this, but oh well. I find it virtually impossible to believe that Brian was laid off. If so, will someone replace him? If not, how will it all work?

I had a feeling the economy had to do something with the odd variety in playlists. I can't stand the March playlist, get rid of all tose reused songs already. Is it now a bi-monthly Mar/Apr playlist now?

Umm, it's the 1st of the month. Playlists RARELY start on the first of the month (at least, not since 2004 or so) and it typically happens on a Sunday. As for whether Brian is still there or not, I have no idea.

Yeah, they usually start on the 1st but it doesn't surprise me if it starts next week. But having the playlists starting at the middle of the month {according to Melissa} is odd. The latest time I remembered a playlist starting was the Aug 2006 playlist that started weither on the 10th or 12th.

This is nothing new though. During the Steve Hurst era, playlists starting late was a common thing. I remember both the August 2006 and April 2007 playlists not starting until the second week of the month. There were also cases where the playlist would end up being carried over to the next month (i.e. Nov/Dec. 02, Aug/Sept 06).

I can't stand the March playlist, get rid of all tose reused songs already.
Me neither... it's way worst than the 06/08 playlist.
And it's sucks that we has to wait for a few weeks until this crappy march 09 playlist ends. <_<

I'm so sick of this March Playlist, I want the new songs to start, or even better why shouldn't they play Trammell or vocal music on the LF, for REAL. I almost feel like puking if this continues.
In fact, most of the songs are now annoying and am so sick of hearing them.

The Best Case scenario is just to bring back a dump list of songs from previous playlists instead of the delay.

Ugh the problem with the March list is that they used songs that have been used on past recent TWC playlists too many times. In Your Own Sweet Way, So Many Nights, Born to Groove, Indian Summer, Cool in the Shade, etc..all played less than a year from this past March. Casino, On The Upside, Golden Soul, Restless Heart, No Es Facil have played 3 or more times within the past 2 years. They need the boot. But it costs more money to license new songs instead of licensing old songs. The reason TWC airs the new music 2 or more days past the date it's supposed to start is because of licensing. They need to get the majority of the songs in the playlist licensed before they are scheduled to air.
I don't have a problem with a playlist with old songs I just prefer having a playlist with songs that were used a while ago and not so many times...

Uhhhhh...it plays behind THE ONLY REASON THIS CHANNEL STILL EXISTS IN ITS CURRENT FORM. Clearly NBC doesn't understand this.

They probably will. With the way NBC is changing things at TWC lately. While they're at screwing up TWC, while don't they lay off Jim and all the other good OCM's, change their name The Weather Channel, to The Weather Net, dump all of their local forecast systems and use weather plus, and screw everything else up and make TWC ratings go down like a rock. :angry:
NBC needs to stop screwing up TWC and get some seniority. If they do one single change to the music and replace it with their stupid, worthless production music, I'm going to snap like a steel wire cutting someone in half.. :chair:

Let's just say I would be extremely shocked if they didn't keep the music. NBC knows that the LF music is popular enough that two "Best of Smooth Jazz" CD's were released to the public by TWC.

I just hope they don't end up using production music on the LF's. Wouldn't be surprising since they did that with Weather Plus, but if they use the same music company on the LOT8's as they did with WX+ I'd have no problem finding the music.

Me neither...but TWC isn't that good anymore since October 2008 IMO thanks to that stupid weather bar they show for sereve weather :thumbdown:(Not the LDL; The one on the lower middle screen).

April 2006 playlist wasn't combined... it was similar to March's, but it wasn't the same. There were a few songs added in April such as Soul Fruit by Brian Hughes and If I Ever Lose My Faith by Greg Adams.
April 2007 wasn't combined with any other month either, though May and July playlists were respectively combined with June and August.

Call me crazy, but I like most of their changes. The IS and the new icons are so much more realistic and up to date and the shows on TWC are funner to watch. I love their new twitter idea, etc.. I support their changes.. They can't keep the old graphics, icons and whatnot forever because the look would go stale. And TWC's past isn't entirely gone . Best of both worlds if you ask me.

I will call you crazy. Those icons are the worst graphics I have ever seen. Too many of the icons look similar to others (Heavy Snow/Wind, Snow/Wind, Blizzard; Thunderstorms, Strong Thunderstorms) and in my opinion, they look awful. Anyway, I thought this thread was about the delaying of the April playlist, not voicing our opinions on the TWC graphics as of late.

How weird. That song seems to be shorter than 2 minutes. In that case, it *might* be some funky new CC Gilmore song. I know I've heard Frank Josephs make a lot of rap/hip hop type stuff that has a very similar sound to that song.

You're looking at the wrong version. The live version is the one TWC is using, not the Hoist version.

At first, I tuned into TWC this morning thinking "What more damage did NBC Universal do to TWC this time?" Then I heard a nice smooth jazz song on there.

Well, this is just great. I really want to hear the songs from the playlist, and Channel 36 (TWC) is out here in Lansing, :censored: :angry: and it is also out on Channel 40 over there in East Lansing. So, I can't record right now. I hope it gets fixed by tonight! :yes:

I hear the band is getting back together this year (my brother is going to one of their concerts). I was always under the impression that they were not allowed to air their music, because of licensing issues.

Thanks for the April/May 2009 playlist!! :happy: It's about time since the playlist started!! :worship: BTW, there are 6 reused songs from the past 6 months (Find Your Way Back, Born 2 Groove, Morning After, Night Wind, Straight, No Chaser, and Holding Faith). Not bad. This is a good playlist, BTW. My Rating for this playlist is 9/10.

FYI, I'm in the process of recording clips of the primetime playlist and will upload clips soon. Maybe overnight too if I'm up late. If not, I'll leave the tuner running to timer record clips and post them tomorrow morning. :yes:

They are most likely going to do the same thing with this playlist that they did with the last one: it will last one month and a half. I have never heard of any playlist only lasting half of a month. Expect a new playlist in June <_<

Well, I just downloaded the full version of the album "Hoist" by Phish, which includes "If I Could". I found the vocal version, and it is a nice song! I am not sure where to get the instrumental version TWC uses though. :dunno:

Not a big deal, I was just looking for the album since I noticed that we have a scratched up Phish CD in the garage when I was cleaning it a couple months back.

Mine wasn't muted either. You should save it as private first, don't put any song info, then once it's done processing..you can put the song info back and make it public..It always works for me.

It does NOT work for WMG copyrights...only UMG. Tavores, try changing the file name and make sure the video doesnt' start right at the LF. It should start with an LF opener and put something like "OVERNITEMAYWX" as the file name. It worked with my videos with Russ Freeman and Norman Brown.

That's why it's not working, I'm not uploading a LF video w/ the song, I'm uploading the full length song.

Uploading that particular song in full length isn't the smartest idea IMO
