It doesn't, they are now called "Desktop Gadgets" and (like Gadgets in Windows Vista) be anywhere on the desktop (but with Vista, the sidebar had to be up for them to even be on the screen) , but the gadgets can "dock" to any of the four sides of the screen.

I woke up to 9 inches of snow on my desktop today :blink:, I had to use the icons and the start menu to melt most of it, It cant be stoped unless you have the control box, and its still falling. :o
