The first heat wave of the season is here. Some areas in the coming days may reach the century mark or higher, especially on Monday. Heat indicies are already above 100 right now. I'll have another update coming up on Monday afternoon.

Tomorrow is what is expected to be the last oppresive day this week. The next few days will still be warmer than average, but less humid making it more comfortable.

Here are two WeatherStar 4000 emulator clips that I recorded today:

6 AM report
5 PM report

A slight risk of severe weather is in the forecast for tomorrow evening. I'll post an update then if anything pops up.

We'll be enjoying pleasant weather in the next few days as highs for most of the area will be only in the 70's. This is the kind of weather I like. B)

Another somewhat chilly, but comfortable night. It will warm up a bit through the rest of the week, however.

We are slated to have what may be the third heat wave of the year. While it won't be nearly as hot as it was during the heat wave we had last month, temps will be in the low 90's with high humidity. The air will also remain unsettled for the next three days.

Conditions and forecast as of 1PM ET:

Last week didn't turn out to be much a heat wave as we were generally in the upper 80's, though it looks like we have a better chance of getting one this week. Stay tuned for an update sometime later this week.

For now, here is the forecast for Monday and the next five days. I'm considering to use different backgrounds for use with my weather graphics. I'm not exactly sure if I want to do this or not, but I want to hear your thoughts before I go any further.

After a week of humid weather, dry conditions return to the Delaware Valley. This won't last long as the high pressure system will exit late tomorrow. The humidity will return shortly thereafter.

Heat Wave #4 is underway...a Heat Advisory is in effect from 11AM tomorrow until 2AM Thursday, and that's just the beginning.

102° is the forecast high for NE Phila, PA, and yes that's the actual temperature!

I'll have an update posted here and other threads sometime this week or early next week.

We got a lot of severe weather here yesterday - the strongest thunderstorms I've seen in years. There were a series of strong thunderstorms with frequent lightning, and we got really (and I mean REALLY) heavy rain, and penny-nickel sized hail! There were also reports of near tennis ball sized hail near West Chester, and golf ball sized hail in a few other locations. It was one heck of an interesting day yesterday. Also, there were isolated locations that had doppler radar estimates of eight inches of rain!

For once, South Jersey got really severe storms!

Tens of thousands of power outages were reported last night, and a tall oak tree got struck by lightning last night in Chester County. A 14 year old girl in Pennsauken, NJ also got struck, but is expected to be okay.

Here are some news articles from WPVI-TV:

Storms bring lightning, hail
Teen struck by lightning
Storm Damages in Brandywine Zoo

Anyone else around Philadelphia got some severe weather from yesterday to share?

Yes.

We had 2 strong periods of thunderstorms. One at 7 when there was lots of lightning and another more intense batch at around 8:30. I was out at my porch and there was lots of lightning but no thunder. Then at 9:30. the street lights went out and it was very dark outside. It was raining extremely hard, lots of gusty winds, and there was plenty of CTG lightning and loud rumbles of thunder.
