Clarksville TN Intellistar 2 Out for 4 Days and Counting
« on: October 17, 2011, 11:57:24 AM »
The Intellistar 2 that serves Clarksville, Tennessee has been out for 4 days. With the exception of a few hours on the second day, we have only seen the national feed for all that time. My cable provider is Charter Communications and our HD channel number is 797 and our SD channel (which carries the HD feed since last month) number is 38. I don't know the Local Weather ID for the Intellistar 2 that serves us.

I contacted Charter Communications yesterday and the technical support guy said that all of their equipment (Intellistars) are functioning properly, but they are not receiving a transmission from the Weather Channel. In addition, the guy said that the problem was on the Weather Channel's end, not on Charter's. I have sent multiple assistance requests via Weather.com for the entire time period with no success in obtaining a reply or solving the problem, so therefore I have come here in the hopes the STAR team will be able to fix this problem.

The LDL is also not operational and we receive the national feed for that too. Since I do not receive the SD feed, I do not know if that is working or not.

Once again, I implore the STAR team to read this message and to correct this problem, which would seem to me to entail sending Charter in Clarksville, Tennessee the local feed. Having an outage this long with no weather information has been a real bummer here, and is unacceptable - a sentiment I hope the people at the Weather Channel share as well.

Patricus you are not alone I have the same Issue with TWC HD IS2 in Texas on Time Warner. I think it must be an TWC issue if this many IS2's are out you are like the 4 or 5 person besides myself to report this issue. I'll hang in there with you. My IS2 has been down for two to three weeks.

Disregard the original post. I have called the Weather Channel in Atlanta and my Intellistar 2 recently came back online, although it is a bit wacko (LDL cuing over commercials, no data for some metro cities). The Weather Channel guy on the phone said that the problem was on Charter's end, and that the Charter people did not know what they were doing.

So hats off to the STAR team for fixing this issue  . And Motorola, if you haven't done so already, I recommend calling the Weather Channel in Atlanta. The number is (770) 226-0000. They fixed my problem on a local basis, so I doubt the outage is anything of a national nature. Just speculation, but it might be some changes to the HD feed that the cable providers can't handle without technical assistance from TWC.

Thanks I called that number and followed the prompts and got someone on the phone and they asked my zip code, my cable provider, what channel is the weather channel on and what is the ID# for my areas IS2 and said it should be fixed by tommorow at the latest. :)

Who at TWC? Because I've called the STAR customer service line in the past for issues and they told me they can only speak to cable headends.

Please refrain from using any phone numbers to contact STAR support. Those are reserved for cable headends and other customers. Using this forum provides a direct link to the STAR team who will try their best to resolve the issue.
