I regret to tell everyone that effective Sunday TWC Today will be no more. The domain is up for renewal at that time, and after much mulling I've decided I will not be renewing. If you wish to download any of the content on the site, please do so by Sunday. You may feel free to post anything you download on your own website if you have one. I would, though, recommend contacting the person from whom the content came to make sure it is ok with them.

Thank you for making TWC Today the success that it has been.

Any reason why this site is shutting down? Right now we have no other good TWC site devoted to the current era.

If I may ask... why the abrupt change in attitude? You seemed so devoted...

Several reasons:

First, I am in deep financial trouble and as a result it is impossible to find a way to continue to pay for the site at this time. Second, I mentioned not too long ago that I was loosing my enthusiasm for the site. I simply don't feel like taking the time to update it anymore, or to do anything else with it for that matter. Third, running this site is beginning to wear me down. With oodles of other TWC sites opening all the time, its gone from something I do for fun to something more like a competition. Its just not the environment that I want to run a site in.

Why not just have someone else take over your duties of this site? Pre-2000 isn't the era of TWC I liked best, so where else can I discuss it?

If someone wants to do that that's fine. But they'd also have to pay for it. Thats one of the reasons I cited for bowing out.

I'd love be able to administrate this forum, but am not able to pay for the site. Maybe someone else can take care of the site and I can administrate the forum?

I had an idea, but I don't think it would be workable: the current content and discussion could be moved back to TWCC, and I could be in charge of that part of things there. But as I said, that probably isn't workable, as a) I'm already not welcome there, and b ) even if I were I'm not so sure Matt would be too keen on giving me any sort of power on his site.

That would be a good idea, but I'd rather have one site and forum devoted entirely to the 2000-present era of TWC.

Mike, you need to have a more open mind. We can't have everything precisely as we want it sometimes.

Open a Freewebs Account so that we can have a TWC Today Website & Forum

www.freewebs.com

Someone is already using this domain:www.freewebs.com/twctoday

You can go to freewebs & they have a domain service where you can purchase a domain like this:www.twctodayforums.com

Roland, my view on websites has always been if your going to do it do it right. That is not the right way to make a website. Most of those free services are crappy.

Wow, this sucks. :( It's been a great site, and a great community to take part in. I, and I'm sure we all do, believe the site was extremely successful, and it's going to be VERY sad to let it all go. :(

A quick note here, I have access to this boards database. With that, I can backup the database right before the site closes. I have a hosting account available to do this with, and we can host the forums there. That way, the community will still be here (it'll just be at a different location). What do you guys think about this?

No, its not. If I were to migrate TWCT to one of those free services, it would have virtually no content. And no forum either. The site would be a mere shadow of what it is now.

Stephen, I'm all for it.
