Programming and Graphics / Re: TWC Updates Graphics

i'm not sure if this just for Weather Underground TV or all Weather Channel live broadcast (WUWA, Weathercenter, AMHQ, and WUTV), but they seem to replaced that part of the HD LDL bar with a live satellite/cone of uncertainty view of Tropical Storm Erika, our newest named storm in the Atlantic Ocean in the El-Nino affected Atlantic Hurricane Season.

i think it's a better view of the storm then that smaller version that you saw at the show logo part of the graphics.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Weather Channel for Sale
« on: August 23, 2015, 05:48:52 AM »
well if TWC is for sale here's my top choices to buy it out and my reasons of why.

Time Warner: why would they buy The Weather Channel, simple, to own another major network and merge it with the CNN brand, not to mention to keep the channel still based in Atlanta where both TWC and CNN is based at now.

Disney: why Disney, well, they own co-own ESPN and ABC News, and if possible wouldn't be surprise if The Weather Channel under Disney ownership, plus it will help ABC News wing itself off of it's existing deal with Accuweather to do their weather stories on shows like America This Morning, World News Now, Good Morning America and ABC World News Tonight.

CBS: well, they would love to turn their recent partnership with The Weather Channel into something else, as in own the channel, if CBS got a hand of The Weather Channel, it will team up with networks like CBS Sports Net and CBS Sports for details about the weather and how it may affect the sporting events they cover. and not to mention it would be under a group of CBS owned cable nets like CBS Sports Net, Pop! (co-owned by CBS with Lionsgate) and the Showtime/The Movie Channel/Flix suite of channels.

21st Century Fox: why the heck not, Fox owns Fox News Channel and Fox Business, and Fox News is well beloved by a certain political party and their views. but if Fox got hold of the Weather Channel, it would be more weather with a "Fox attitude" when it comes to the coverage as Fox could re brand the channel to Fox Weather Channel and have some cross promotion with the Fox owned channels and when severe weather hits a region with a Fox O&O, expect local coverage from their Fox sister stations, example: if a tornado outbreak hit Dallas, then they would go to KDFW's Fox 4 coverage of it.

Discovery Networks: this one's a dark horse to me, this companies flagship channel Discovery has aired weather  related reality programming before and Discovery has had Jim "gets excited over thundersnow" Cantore host a special with a daredevil doing some stunt. it could be a weird deal, but i Discovery got it, it would just be another channel to air bad reality shows about naked survivalist or rednecks hunting bigfoot in the woods.

Viacom: well, they would want it just cause.

Accuweather: why, simple, this company has been trying to launch a 24/7 weather channel and they have their growing pains and they want to merge TWC and become the biggest authority on weather.

WeatherNation: this upstart had gone through some hard struggles and growning pains since they launch orginally too soon at The Weather Cast on Dish during the 2010 contract fight with TWC, since then, they want to well, grow some more and become the new face of weather coverage. the network alone started up in it's current form in 2011, they added local TV stations as their partners across some cities and be placed on their OTA subchannels and then in 2013, they were added to DirecTV line up and then added earlier this year to Dish's lineup. this one would be a dark horse candidate to buy out TWC as TWC's more established and maybe more pricey then WN.

that's all i can think of that would buy The Weather Channel out from NBC Universal/Comcast and the investors who co-owned the channel with NBCU. again, this is my choices and my options, not actual buyers as Comcast hasn't offically put the channel on the market yet for sale.

The Weather Channel new live stream http://www.weather.com/tv/the-weather-channel-live/video/watch-the-weather-channel-live?pl=pl-live-tv-now you have to be a member on weather.com to watch it.

not only do you need to log in though the website, you also need to log in to the stream via which cable provider is supporting the live webstream of the channel. and one of those is Dish, which is my provider.

so you need a weather.com account and the account of the provider that supports the webstream.

well, we now have a name and date of premiere of the show.

the show will be known as Weather Underground TV, a TV show in which the weather site that TWC bought out 3 years ago will be on at 6-8 ET and this show will debut on Aug 24.

looks like Dish has cropped out the part of the HD feed to remove the extra stuff like the "Today's Top Stories thing and the extra info like Hail reports, weekend getaways and others stuff that you would see on the right side of the screen

bumping this after 2 months, TWC is really missing from the action of a major severe weather outbreak in North & Central TX where all the local TV stations in the DFW area is on live nonstop coverage on the storms which includes Tornado Warnings with possible long range tornadoes on the ground. this is  :censored: ing bull  :censored:

i hope for this storm to be deadly so we can blame The Weather Channel's lack of coverage on the deaths of people, who's lives are in jeopardy in this severe thunderstorm/tornado outbreak

BTW, i am not wanting people to die in this, but sometimes death is needed so TWC can have their wake up call.

well it's safe to say The Weather Channel is "asleep at the wheel" as there's an ongoing severe weather outbreak here in North TX right now, KXAS NBC 5, KDFW Fox 4. the local ABC station WFAA 8, and KTVT CBS 11 are covering this pretty well while TWC is no where to be found and i think WeatherNation might be airing it too but not as much.

so i give TWC a F for the coverage or lack there off. and WN maybe a C on being able to give weather period and all 4 DFW stations a A to A+ for live coverage.

"Despite NBC Ownership, Weather Channel Meteorologists Are Appearing on CBS"

That's funny because I myself saw TWC's maps on 'CBS Evening News' a couple of days ago when someone (not from TWC) was doing a weather report on the severe weather.

remember the rumors a while back that NBCUniversal is looking to sell off The Weather Channel, i guess we now know who would buy it from NBCUniversal if the rumors of NBCUniversal bailing on TWC (The channel of course as NBCUniversal's parent company Comcast bailed on their epic mega cable merger with the other famous TWC, Time Warner Cable) is true, which would make perfect sense since CBS is the #1  network in the US on free TV, and some market's CBS is #1 in News on the local front and also CBS News is finally turning around after the Dan Rather debacle and the failure of the Katie Couric experiment of her hosting the Evening News. i think they will be gaining on NBC sooner or later depending on whether or not people will trust Brian Williams after his lying scandal when he returns from his 6 months suspension.

anyway, i think CBS ownership could be better, plus they could join in with local CBS stations in O&O markets like Dallas, Miami, New York, LA, and Boston.

yes, it's official, Tuesday Dish launched WeatherNation TV on the Dish lineup in HD and SD on channel 215. the channel is now live and we Dish customers can tune into a weather channel for weather and not reality TV and top 10 list of past natural disasters (and one religious theme top 10 list of weather events that tied into Easter recently)

and also the real reason why Dish added this channel was because Dish was thinking of dropping TWC 5 years after the original dispute, i think this time TWC caved and renew quietly without a single mention on their site or on TV that TWC could be yanked from Dish (again). the Verizon dispute that's on-going has already been a big hit for TWC and past disputes with DirecTV was also a hit on their ratings and money flow too.

for now, Dish customers have 2 weather channels, one the establishment that was once great but started it's downfall ever since NBC Universal/Comcast took over it. and the new upstart that is slowly gain traction and gaining carriage deals with Dish and DirecTV as well as some TV stations in select local markets. i bet in 5 years from now, WN will be on all providers.

Yeah, Bettes and Carfagno are coming on at 4. But, really? They're going off air for three hours when there's active tornado warnings and watches? Unbelievable.
I'm so ready for WN on DISH!  Hopefully the rumors are true and it comes tomorrow! Will TWC stay? Who knows?

yes, turns out the "WeatherNation launching on April 20th on Dish" rumor was just that.

so now most likely, it will most likely launch sometime between this coming Wednesday the earliest to the week of the impending contract expiration of current Dish/TWC deal.

and TWC has been dropping the ball alot lately on bad weather coverage during the night hours and weekend due to NBC Universal basically cutting the budget and saving money by airing the reality shows instead of live weather all the time.

NBC Universal ruined The Weather Channel.

Nice Job TWC!! I was worried earlier today when I saw TWC was on a regular schedule. TWC is still live as of 7:08PM CDT. Anyone know how long tonight?
Figures, looks like it was only until 9pm EST. :hammer:

They even had the Storm Alert LoT8's Music playing and all!  They could of at least went until 10 or 11pm but no their precious Long-Form garbage is too important for them to give up!  Don't expect Verizon to bring back The Weather Channel if this keeps up. :fear:

and i wouldn't be surprise if more providers tell The Weather Channel, ether you drop the Long Form programing or we will drop you and pick up WeatherNation TV or AccuWeather's new TV network.

The Weather Channel, covering bad weather when we say it's bad.

i bet you money the only way The Weather Channel goes back to live weather 24/7 is if NBC sells them to some media company with big money is willing to spend it on this network. Time Warner, Viacom, CBS, Disney and Fox, i'm looking at you.

well, not only did they just preempted programing tonight for coverage of this tornado outbreak, they just played the Storm Alert 2013 theme during the LOT8s just a moment ago.

you know :censored: just got real when they play Storm Alert 2013 on LOT8s.

plus not only that, the regular LDL bar is also on too.

Can anyone with Dish Network check during Longform and let me know if the SD channel has the National City Forecasts at the bottom?  The HD is working but was looking for confirmation that the SD is also working.  Thanks.

as of late Thursday night (Feb. 26)/early Friday morning (Feb. 27) at 2:00 AM CT, the SD feed now has the LDL Time and National City Forecast at the bottom.

so now both SD and HD feeds of The Weather Channel now has the time and National weather forecast.

edit: now with photo proof, these pics were taken from my old camera phone that is only being used as a alarm clock/camera.

i seen the Jim Cantore thundersnow clip, i say this as a pro wrestling fan, Jim is "Marking out" like crazy

for those who aren't pro wrestling fans, here's what the term marking out means via the urban dictionary:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Marking+Out

anyway, moving on, i was channel surfing and ran into The Weather Channel HD Feed on Dish ch. 214 (Dish is my provider) which right now is airing "Highway Thru Hell", and i noticed now you see the the time and temp for all the cities in the US on the bottom half of the screen during the show and even on the ad break, the local forcecast is still shown. i checked the SD feed too and it's only on the HD Feed. in fact i have taken 2 pics of this, one from when the ads were on the other when the show was back from commercial. these two pics were taken from my tablet's webcam pointed at my TV set, so sorry for the quality

i think the reason why TWC isn't in Red mode anymore for the Juno coverage is because they felt Juno wasn't gonna be bed enough to stay in Red mode. meanwhile weathermen in the Northeast and all of the media are gonna be under fire for over-hyping this like it was ether Katrina, or Sandy or the great superstorm of 1993.

i blame Weather Channel, NBC News (mostly MSNBC), CNN and Fox News for fueling the "weather hype machine"
