The whole concept of Cable in the Classroom back in the day was that teachers would record it for later use in the classroom.  Since this programming was intended to be recorded, it didn't really matter when it was shown.  Therefore, it was scheduled during the overnight hours when viewer impact would be minimal, meaning the channels could schedule more attractive programming during the hours when most people would be awake and watching TV.

Since E3 is this week are there any games anyone is looking forward to this holiday season?

My video game days pretty much ended with the Atari 2600.  Today's games are just far too complicated for me to figure out or keep track of everything.  3D motion makes me nauseous.

I miss "Action News" on channel 6.  The theme song alone was enough to make me want to tune in!
Me too. I love the anchors on channel 6 a lot better than on the other stations, especially Rob Jennings, Chris Sowers,  Jim Gardner, and Dann Cuellar.
Did they trash the Action News and theme? Last I checked both still existed... Am I missing something?

No, it's still there.  I just haven't had the opportunity to watch television from Philadelphia since the late 1990s, and southeast Pennsylvania has a lot of nostalgia for me.  :)

Wow - I haven't watched channel 69 in ages.  What kind of programming does it have now?  Is it affiliated with a network?

Is it really necessary or appropriate for moderators to discuss moderator issues in public?

Beryl's backside has been keeping Daytona Beach consistently wet.  It's good for easing the drought, but poor Eric is getting waterlogged bicycling to and from work. :hmm:

I miss the tropical tracking maps from 20-some years ago.  They were simple, but attractive, uncluttered, and very much to the point.

Yes!

I thought it was because the IS2 was running the tropical storm warning and hurricane local statements non-stop (which the IS isn't).  I'm glad to know that it's a nationwide problem.

Actually, I was worried that the IS2 was having glitches again, especially since it took a month (!) to get it working.

Tropical depression numbers follow the chronology of all tropical/subtropical systems that have formed.  Therefore, if Beryl had started out as a tropical depression in the NHS's first bulletin, it would have been T.D. #2, since Alberto was the first system, even though its first bulletin already had it as a tropical storm.
