The problem seems to have improved for me.  Maybe it was a temporary thing.  I'll let you know if the problem reappears more seriously.

Is anyone else having any problems accessing the forum lately?  It's been rather slow and laggy for me today.

59°, cloudy, and rather windy in Daytona Beach.  In other words, perfect weather for lugging home bags of groceries.  I don't drive, the grocery store's a few blocks away, and I only do one major grocery shopping trip a month.  Those bags can get awfully heavy when it's hot and humid outside.  :)

P.S.: Guess what I just got home from. :thrilled:

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

It's a forecast like that that makes me glad I moved to Florida.  Nothing else makes me glad, though.

I wish they would do 2 minute local forecasts, again.

Me too.

IMO 60 or 90 seconds just isn't enough time for a local forecast   If only TWC listened to the begs and cries from their audience, but I doubt that'll ever happen  :(

Apparently, the weather forecast-loving audience is the population that The Weather Channel is not interested in hearing from anymore.  :hmm:

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Rebroadcasting taped programming isn't anything new for The Weather Channel.  Even in the 1980s, the overnight hours were the same one or two hours replayed again a couple of times.  (That's what led to the infamous double-long long-format local forecasts while TWC rewound the videotape!)

However, packaging rebroadcasts as "live"... that's just not kosher.  If the word "live" is in a program title, viewers expect it to actually be a live broadcast.

And I honestly didn't think about it before, since I've never been to the Pacific time zone, but you're right - viewers on the west coast get to see only prerecorded material for what should be TWC's biggest primetime weather program.

16° Overcast.

I'll let the attached image speak for itself. When you have the "cold" icon in your forecast, you know it's going to be a bad day.  :brr:

Oh, lordie, that's cold!  Once upon a time I was used to that, but a year and a half of living in Florida has taken away whatever tolerance I had for such temperatures.  Or, indeed, anything colder than, say, 55°.

Same here.  The gloom has returned to central Florida.

Thanks for trying.  Maybe someday a way will be found to fix it.

TWC Today News / Weather in posts?

Any news about when or whether the weather information will be returning to posts?

Not only was it interesting to see the local weather for every member, but it made it so much easier to find out where each member was posting from.

I understand a forum upgrade took this feature away from us, but I haven't heard any updates recently about whether any progress has been made towards getting it back.

A cold front passed over Daytona Beach today, and our temperature fell 30° in 12 hours, and it's still dropping.  Not only that, but the pressure has risen dramatically, and, as a result, I spent most of the day in bed suffering from an agonizing headache.

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic
« on: January 17, 2013, 11:52:48 PM »
We don't have Weatherscan down here in Daytona Beach, and I really wish we did, especially now.

Our local cable company runs its own "travel weather" channel, which has really improved very recently, but it's still travel weather, not a channel about local weather.  Once upon a time, two local broadcast stations ran their own local weather digital substations.  Then, just under two years ago, it was down to one.  And now we're down to zero.  The Weather Channel certainly doesn't offer 24-hour local weather anymore, unless you want to rely on the LDL every ten minutes or so throughout large parts of the day.

So, we're now down to zero channels you can turn on at any time to quickly get the current weather and a quick forecast.  Weatherscan would be quite welcome right now, but I guarantee Bright House isn't going to be adding it anytime soon.  Or at all.
