Whats disturbing to me is that you care so much about the names on a weather forecast on TV. Get over it. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Ill tell you how many people care about these changes". 1 person and thats you. Nobody wants to hear your incessant whining about how your star isn't perfect. Take it somewhere else

This response from you actually surprises me.  :hmm:

I'm so sick of this "Flick and a Forecast" thing.  NBC seems to think that The Weather Channel is supposed to be an entertainment network first and foremost... just one that happens to have a focus on the weather.  They couldn't be more wrong.

Does this seem to be fixed for everyone at this point? I just noticed my ID screen is working properly once again...
Works here.

I know this has been asked before but how does one get a location changed on the intellistar and a feature such as traffic for a nearby major city added?

You can make a request in the "WeatherStar Tech Support" folder at https://twctodayforums.com/forums/weatherstar-tech-support/ ... however, remember that the tech staff has to balance the needs of the entire viewing area with your request.  However, it's anything but a lost cause, because such requests have been followed through before.

What am I looking at that's different?

The gray text. It's hard to read.

Are you sure the text wasn't just fading in or out in that screenshot?  I've never seen "barely there" or hard to read text on The Weather Channel.

We havnt had NBC or CBS programming from 2 am to now (7:53 pm)

You mean your local affiliates have preempted programming this whole time?  Boston TV stations almost never do that, but, granted, we don't have the kind of weather that you have.  Blizzards will receive coverage in the morning until sometime in the early afternoon when people start to lose interest.  The last time I remember wall-to-wall, seemingly never-ending coverage of weather on Boston TV was during Hurricane Bob in 1991.  Scratch that... the affiliates started airing regular programming even during that storm!  I guess we New Englanders are expected to get through bad weather ourselves.   :)

I completely agree - Jim Cantore has every right to be mad.  I'm sure that, when he signed on to work on The Weather Channel as a meteorologist, he never expected he'd have to compete for air time with movies!

The Weather Channel NBC really dropped the ball on this one!

TWC now has a FOOD expert?
They did in the late 1980s, too, with Jeannetta Jones talking about the best kinds of cheeses to serve at a dinner party.  :)

I have such a great feeling of nostalgia from when I started watching The Weather Channel in the late 1980s, during the "You need us for everything you do" era.  Those were good days. :)  This was before I was even 10 years old... so I guess my reaction to reading my first-ever tornado watch scroll up the screen wasn't TOO unexpected.  Basically, I was scared to death.  :rofl2:

Oh, those were good days, and the quality of The Weather Channel back then was first-rate.   Marney Stanier talking about ceiling fans, Jeannetta Jones talking about different cheeses you can serve, there was another PSA I enjoyed watching, but can't remember...  And those Trane commercials airing every 5 minutes...

Yeah, those were the days!  :D

Maybe they used the double-feed feature, so that people in the affected areas would receive live weather updates, while everyone else saw the movie?  Still, I think the wise thing to do would have been to cancel the movie for everyone.  Actually, I don't know why The Weather Channel is showing movies in the first place!  Actually, I do.  NBC now considers The Weather Channel to be just another programming outlet in its family, regardless of TWC's stated purpose.

My vote would be the early-mid '90s.  Not high on the bells and whistles, but they presented the weather very well, and that's what they're supposed to do.

You mean... The Weather Channel is actually going to be providing weather reports throughout the evening?  I am shocked!  Whoever heard of such a thing?!

Not long ago, I saw a severe thunderstorm warning and a flood advisory scroll on top of the new LDL that covered the lower third of the screen...and I thought a new warning system would accompany the new LDLs.
That's how the warning crawl works right now with the expanded LDL.  Whether something will change in the future, I have no idea, though, to be honest, I don't know what kind of change is possible, short of creating a THIRD size of LDL to fit within the larger window, but shrunk a little to fit the warning crawl.  Sounds like a good idea, in my opinion, but the amount of programming work sounds too absurd for such a thing to happen.
