The icons are nice, but is it possible to use ones without white edges? :dunno:

Which white edges are you talking about?  I don't see any.

Same here eric, you prob mean MSNBC on 96,98,and 251 and Weatherscan duplicated on channel 845

Billerica's lineup is somewhat different than yours, but we've got 2 (or 3?) MSNBCs and 2 Weatherscans.  Talk about wasted bandwidth!

Really? Ours is quite organized to me. 20's is generally public /educational/government access, 30's has sports and movie networks, low-40's has news, mid-upper 40s has children networks, 50's has MTV and all of that. But, like they say... it's Crapcast  :D

Oh, ours is very different.  In the mid 1990s there was a major channel lineup change (back in the days of MediaOne, if not Continental Cablevision), but there are still remnants of the higgeldy-piggeldy channel assignments from the 1980s that are still sticking around.  Even the 1990s lineup change didn't do all that much in putting things into order.  As if the analogue lineup isn't bad enough, the digital lineup, while pretending to be divided into categories based on the hundreds number, is still a complete disaster.  Nothing makes sense.  Why is C-SPAN 1, for example, 44, but C-SPAN 2 and 3 are in the 200s, separated by, of all things, ESPN Classics?!

BTW, The Weather Channel is 47 (used to be 48 before the 1990s change).  WeatherScan is 245.  The Weather Channel HD is 847, but that channel used to be just a repeat of WeatherScan (SD) until the TWC HD feed finally made its way here.  (Not having an HD TV set, I can't watch it.)  Actually, our digital line up contains a LOT of duplicated (and a couple triplicated!) channels!  :dunno:

I've wanted for a long time to experience a hurricane for myself, and I've decided I want to go directly towards it should one make landfall this year. Very tricky and last-minute concept, but throwing caution to the wind sounds exciting for me :P
Of course, I would have to stay a few miles inland to eradicate the concern over surge, and take emergency measures should anything take me by surprise.

Um... okay...

Ever heard of a TV? :P

Television is so passé!  :bleh:

Neat update from AVS Forum - Comcast's next step in their video delivery is a massive channel reorganization effort.

Honestly, considering Comcast's lineup (at least where I live) seems so random that it was put together by a drunk monkey, I think this channel reorganization is long overdue.  We'll get used to it soon enough.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the HD local forecast.  I figure at this rate, it may debut in a few years...

LOL!  :rofl2:

Has anyone heard "Traffic Flow for our area" before?

Yes, I have.

It's been available on Comcast in my town for a while now, but, alas, I don't have an HDTV set to watch it on.

All I can do is say that it's a shame.  Jim Cantore's tweet, however, reminded me that even in a soulless corporation there are still employees with souls.

Guys, I shouldn't have made the requests that I did. But now some issues are going on behind the scenes that are too difficult to handle. I would appreciate it though if my issues with requests, the administration, and the STAR team, stay just between me and them. Please no one else get involved, since it really isn't anyone else's issue.

I think what must be remembered here is that, as much as some may want it to be, the Stars aren't our own personal "toys," and, even though we watch them umpteen times a day, it doesn't mean we get to tweak them to show exactly what we want them to show.  There are a whole lot of other people who watch them, too, and the needs of only an occasional TWC viewer are no less important than the needs of a constant viewer.  The Star techs have to keep everyone in mind, and, while pleasing everyone just isn't possible, I think they do a pretty good job of keeping as many people happy as possible.

I do apologize if I offended you. Most everyone here is able to exercise self control when asking for changes and modified content. This unfortunately is not one of those cases and its results could hinder the approval of changes made by others. Its perfectly ok to request a change here or there to the TWC STAR team but when you do it all the time its not fair to them or other members.

What you said here is, in my opinion, a polite, respectful, and yet firm way of dealing with the situation.  I think you just let your temper get the best of you earlier.  I agree that discretion is very important, especially considering the tech folks at The Weather Channel are nice enough to come here and read the message board.

I agree with you. I think that this time, Flick and a Forecast viewership is going to be down significantly, due to what happened last Friday.

It was a very bad plan NBC had to turn its new property into another general entertainment channel, and I hope, without serious detriment to The Weather Channel, this plan fails.  Enough is enough already.
