IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Beta Launch
« on: December 30, 2010, 09:28:53 AM »
I still don't get why the IS2 has the old icons.

It's been mentioned in this forum before.  The icons used in the HD Star were originally developed for HD.  However, they were also used in SD, but the results didn't look as expected in standard definition, which is why they were changed to the icons currently used in both the SD feed (national & Intellistar) and the national HD feed.  However, since this particular set of icons was developed specifically for HD, that's the set that is being used for the HD Star.

The IS2 is getting installed pretty quickly now. Hopefully we'll see a lot more in the coming months.

I really hope so.  I enjoy watching the HD feed, but I find it a little inconvenient to have to switch to the SD channel or Weatherscan for the local forecast.

I don't think they're allowed to have any food or drinks on the set (at least without having it covered with some tablecloth).

They used to be allowed to have coffee (or some liquid) with them at the anchor desk back in the day.

From time to time this morning you could hear peoples voices in the background, especially coming back from commercials or the LOT8's.

Reminds me of Jeannetta Jones.  I don't know how, but she, more than anyone else, seemed to have an open mic during the local forecast on a few occasions.  :)

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic

Came across this today... this was definitely a headend special request.

Well, now, that does look a bit scholarly!  :)

How interesting that your Weatherscan has advertising on the bottom scroll bar.  Ours has only one ad - an invitation to watch "Wake Up With Al" which appears intermittently.  Otherwise, it's just an empty blue bar across the bottom of the screen.

Something was blocking the TV near TWC logo when I recorded....

Something?  Some random unidentified object was in your house in front of the TV set?  :dunno:

I now have TWC HD!

Congratulations!

But no HD STAR yet.

Could be a long wait, sadly.  We've had TWC HD for well over a year in my area, but no HD Star.

Once upon a time I would have rooted for a big snowstorm.  Of course, those days are now long past.  I've had to trudge to work in many a blizzard, and the less I have to do that the happier I am.

You bumped a 2 YEAR OLD topic for that?!

If you're going to have steam coming out of your ears, could you please put that steam to good use and melt the snow from my front porch?  Thank you in advance.   :brr: :snow:

Just how authentic is it?  I mean... will the buyer find stray hairs, dandruff, and sweat stains left by the OCM who used to wear this coat?  :smoke2:

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

TWC did not renew it's contract with Traffic Pulse, hence why all traffic products have bene pulled from tv, web, and mobile. There is a possibility TWC could find a new provider sometime next year.

Good riddance.  The only thing I liked less about the traffic on the local forecast is when the local forecast began with the traffic products.

Programming and Graphics / Re: Day Planner New Graphics Package

They seem to slowly integrate any new graphics. Probably easier on the production crew

That's a break from the 1980s and especially the 1990s, when the whole package would change in one fell swoop.

Jeff Morrow is in Chicago this morning covering the snow. He's wearing a hat with the '96-'05 TWC logo.

I bet it's from his personal collection.  :)

From my perspective (because i live in new england) from those pictures i might be lucky enough to get 1-2 inches of rain while maine/mount washington, nh will get jackpot totals.

I've heard that Maine especially will be getting quite a bit of snow.
