Funny!  Nice to see things the way they used to be, OCMs who no longer appear on air... and to take a laugh at what we love, too!  :)

Monday forecast

Now, I don't want you to get offended here, but I dislike the XL and I hate XL emulators even more.  :wave:

An article from a local TV station about the thunderstorms: http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/26765515/detail.html

Will Satellite viewers see the LOCAL squeezebar? I have cable, but I was just wondering.
Satellite subscribers and Im assuming XL/4000/Jr viewers see the national one that was seen during the beta test

That makes sense, considering they already see the national LDL.  It's a shame, though.

That is so well said!  :clap:

I still find it odd that TWC's new owner still isn't able to give its subscribers access to the IS2!!  Does anyone want to take out bets as to how long it will take?  :angry:

The color of the yellow tab on the national SD LDL went back to normal earlier today.

Wow, I guess it's only cable subscribers with an IntelliStar who don't see the SD LDL!  It's not that often I get to see it, to be honest... and I'm glad I don't usually have to.  Local weather information is appreciated much more.  :)  That's why I'm so impatient about Comcast fixing its "compatibility problems" with the IS2.  I'd much prefer to watch the HD channel, but I can't get a local forecast on that yet!!

Interesting, but I'd rather see a current conditions LDL down there.  :)

I think I misunderstood the whole purpose of this thread.  It says "satellite Star," yet I was thinking about the IS2 when I wrote my answer.

Sorry! :footinmouth:

We’re still working on that technology with Comcast. While we don’t have a date of when that will occur, know that we’re working hard on it!

Well, at least that's better than nothing!  Kudos to TWC for trying, though I have to wonder just how interested Comcast is in making this anything close to a "priority."

Satellite provider:  DirecTV
Zip Code: 70438 (Franklinton, La.)

I know from past experience that the DirecTV Star will show alerts for the following:
* Severe thunderstorm watches and warnings
* Tornado watches and warnings
* Flash flood warnings

However, my area has been under winter storm watches and warnings (including a WSWatch in effect now) several times, yet I have yet to see alerts for these advisories displayed during the local forecasts or when I first tune in to the channel.

Are there certain watches and warnings the STAR will/will not display? Help me out.

Do you watch TWC when the winter storm bulletins are first issued?  TWC won't show them constantly until they expire.  When each bulletin (including a continuation) is issued, it's shown for a certain number of minutes, then it disappears.  Bulletins such as tornado warnings, however, DO remain on until they expire, but that's because a tornado warning is much more serious and grave than a winter storm warning.

I'm lucky that I only got rain out of it.  I can't imagine all the headaches that the rest of the country experienced with this storm.  Hope all of you stayed safe and warm!

In my area I think we've had at least one substantial snowstorm a week since the storm a day or two after Christmas.  No exceptions.  I've really had enough of this!  :cry3:

Surprisingly, my house hasn't lost power yet.  It goes out for no good reason in the middle of a calm and sunny day, but with all these snowstorms nothing's happened!  Amazing!  :clap:

On the topic of holiday names, the forecast doesn't always get read during the LOT8's when it's a holiday. MLK day forecast never got read out loud at all.

They probably didn't record the holiday names, and so when the page came up, there wasn't any vocal to start it with, so nothing got read.
