I've already sent a couple of reports to the admins about this. Unfortunately, our administration team isn't active on the forums 24/7, and I certainly don't expect them to be.

I've sent some reports, too.  I actually exceeded the time limit for sending spam reports, so, after a couple, I figured the message would get across.  That, and the enormous number of new posts by two brand-new accounts will probably attract someone's attention.

However, then sometimes we will have to deal with what is going on tonight. For some reason, the profile of the member with Chinese/Japanese writing as his title doesn't exist.

Probably self-deleted already?  That account started the spamming, and then "autumn" continued it.

So you two spammers, are you going to post here now? We're on to you. :club:

You write that like they care.  :(  There's a difference between spammers and trolls.  :)

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Can't we do something about spam?
« on: June 17, 2011, 10:17:49 PM »
I noticed a huge amount of spamming tonight.  It's annoying, but, unfortunately, it happens, and our administrators have to spend all that time removing the posts and (hopefully) locking out those accounts.

That said, isn't there anything that can be done to prevent spam before it happens?  On some other message boards I've been to over the years, new accounts have to wait a pre-determined period of time before they're allowed to post.  This will discourage many spammers, since they want to get their "work" done as quickly as possible, not register, save the site address, and come back later to post all of their links.

Good luck down there in Daytona Beach, it was nice to meet a long time TWC fan like me in Massachusetts.

Thank you!  :)

I've heard Daytona Beach is a nice place to live. Are you just moving there for the weather?

Heck, no!!  If I were to move someplace just for the weather, I'd probably go to Sochi!

The font for the city & state, or for the forecast?  The forecast looks like Helvetica, or a close varient.

I'd take summer over winter any day.

Yeah, but yesterday it was 97° in Daytona Beach and only 59° in Billerica.  I'll take the 59°!!

Wow, what a difference between Massachusetts and Florida! Looks like you'll be transitioning from the cold weather to the awesome beach weather Florida has to offer! I wish you good luck on your move, and be careful.

Thank you!  I've spent my whole life living in northern climates, and so this will certainly be a change for me.  I'll appreciate the winters, but the summers... yikes!

I can't even imagine how nice the foliage in Massachusetts must be. After living in the south my whole life, getting used to the duration of summer heat may be tough at first. Summer heat starts earlier and lasts longer. I don't think it really begins to cool down in Florida until mid October...well, maybe that's southern Florida. If you really hate snow, though, that's a big plus about living in the south. I certainly wish the best during your move. I live in Louisiana, which is kind of like Florida but with no beach nor very many palm trees. Daytona sounds like paradise to me.  B)

I've been in several different places in the fall, but the most beautiful fall foliage I've ever seen - by far - is in New England.  At least I have several photos and a great memory.  I'm sure it will seem very strange in a few months when everything's still green, and I'm watching the fall foliage report on TWC while still sweating outside!  :)

I've only visited central Florida in the winter and early spring before, so I can't even imagine how I'll get through those summers - relentless heat and numerous thunderstorms.  I'll probably melt into a pile of Eric goo.  And I'm not even mentioning the inevitable hurricane!!

I do hate winter, but I also hate heat.  I guess I'll have to wait and see which one is the lesser of two evils.  At least you can't slip on sunshine.  :)

Oh that sucks, -__- But hey, you'll be in a beautiful place though :)

I've been to Daytona Beach before, and I do agree with you - it's a nice place.  I LOVE palm trees, and I'll be seeing quite a lot of them!  :)  I'll really, really miss the fall foliage, though.  :(

btw, I assume your subscribing to Bright house right?

Yes.  My apartment complex offers expanded cable for free.  Only in SD, which will be a waste for my HDTV set, but even if I pay extra for HD channels, there still isn't any HD feed of The Weather Channel to speak of, or Weatherscan, for that matter.  But the reason for no Weatherscan is because Bright House has its own local weather station.

One can at least hope that TWC is using the dual-feed feature... for those subscribers with IntelliStars.  For everyone else, reality programming it is!

I'd love to live in Daytona Beach. So close to the Daytona International Speedway. :D

I'll be living just a couple of minutes away from there - by foot.

Right now I live in Billerica, Massachusetts, about half an hour away from Boston.

In terms of mass media, things are much better in Massachusetts.  Here, we have 3 PBS stations (including the venerable WGBH) and 4 public radio stations, including 1 classical.  In Daytona Beach, there are currently 2 PBS stations, though one will be closing just before I arrive, and only 1 public radio station, with no classical.  :(

In a few weeks I'll be moving to Daytona Beach, Florida.  No HD feed and no Weatherscan.  "Lucky" me.  :cry3:

At least they still have the IntelliStar down there.  :)

Oh, I am so not a fan of the XL!  If I had to choose the version of the XL I liked the most, however, it would be the first one.
