I guess we'll be starting the front porch in a few more days.

This week has been a deadly one for severe weather. An EF2 tornado claimed one life in Rayne, Louisiana and another EF2 tornado caused considerable damage outside of Mobile, Alabama.

Local Forecast / Re: Different pages on the III/3000

My guess is proximity, but I've seen some latest observation pages that left me scratching my head. I've noticed that the latest observation and regional conditions pages were ordered from north to south before they were changed to alphabetical order in 1993. On the 4000's regional maps, it sounds like a select number of cities are entered into a database and from looking at recordings, a select number of map "snapshots" are used (locations in a given area share the same map).
I am really  talking mainly about the text-based 3000, before the 4000 with maps and icons came out.

General Discussion / Google and YouTube

The way google runs you tube sucks.  I have had a you tube account for nearly 4 years and although I have a google account, I rarely use it and forgot the password, but was able to change the password. Google forced me to create an account or else it would not let me access my you tube account, even though I already have a you tube account.

Not everyone had a google account, but should not have to create one in order to access their you tube account that they've already had a long time. This is just so unfair!

They shifted the slight risk down to the south.  I hate it when the air is stable and when they come through during the overnight and early morning hours.  I want them during the day, late morning, afternoon, evening and nighttime before my bedtime.

I know they mention having a lot of weather with a little bit of fun, but it's going a little overboard here.  People don't have time in the morning to watch a ton of entertainment when they're rushing to work.
This is true. And, those people are not tuning in for entertainment, they are tuning in for weather information.

On the WeatherSTAR III, later 3000 after the 4000 came out, how would they select the specific locations on the "Latest Observations", "Conditions Across the Region" and Forecast Across the Region" pages, relative to the location you were watching the local forecast from?

Looks like my area is under a slight risk for Wednesday. I hope the air is not too stable.

TWC Classics News / Re: Weather You Can Always Turn To
« on: March 06, 2011, 06:20:41 PM »
I was thinking about this myself...though I forgot the exact date that the WYCATT actually made its debut. But, yes, I've been thinking, it was 20 years ago this month that TWC's "Weather You Can Always Turn To" on-air campaign debuted. And, at the time, it truly was weather you could always turn to. 24/7 weather, local forecasts every 5 minutes, with only occasional specials, for example, "Dangers Edge", "The Enemy Wind" and "El Nino: Drought to Deluge". I have lots of footage from that era that lasted almost exact 5 years, through March 1996. Memories, memories...

Oh and by the way, great new look, Matt on the twc classics web site.   :twothumbs:
