Sadly, TWCC_Lightning, you're going to bet both. Wind is definitely in your picture, and there is a 15% chance of tornadoes for your area.

General Weather Chat / Re: AWIPS tonight... lookin' convective
« on: March 25, 2011, 11:28:43 PM »
Well, there is some pretty strong instability anticipated for that area tomorrow according to sounding forecasts at Birmingham. The SPC says in its Day 2 Outlook that "strong tornadoes" are possible in that area.
I know. It's scary.  :fear:

Your Local Weather / Re: Weather for Chattanooga, TN

I have been to Chattanooga several times when there have been thunderstorms and I think thunder, for some reason, sounds even louder in Chattanooga than it does in most locations. I think it's because it echos off the mountains.

It makes me mad  :furious: that the  :censored: high pressure is over the southeast and costing me getting to experience these storms. I loathe this kind of weather pattern that we are in with the high pressure keeping the storm track and system well to the north of where I live.  :furious: By golly, it better change!!

Well, out with the pot belly stove and in with the front porch. :) First full day of spring. Glad winter is officially over, though, at least in my part of the country, we'll have some more cold snaps before it gets warm and stays warm. Of course in other parts of the country, it is typical to see snow well into April.

All of the sudden, there seems to be a lack of activity. I do not like it when it's like this. They are forecasting dry weather through the rest of March.  I hate those ridges of high pressure, especially when they are over the southeast and keep that upper-level support and storm track to our north. It is soooo boring.

I want it to be active in the southeast, in my part of the country!!!  :furious: It was inactive last year and I want it to be different this year!

It is around $3.30 and $3.50 from Ozark and Dothan.
About the same here in the Birmingham/Hoover area.
