Today is not the 8-year anniversary of Hurricane Charley that struck Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte, Florida about 100 miles south of Tampa.

Tropical systems are not tropical storms before they are hurricanes.

My local abc station has what they call a "WeatherNow" channel on digital cable, available on all digital cable providers in the area - both Charter (channel 137) and Bright House (channel 632), and Comcast in Tuscaloosa. (Not sure the channel # on that one.)

If or when it becomes a tropical storm, it's name will be Gordon. Gordon has been on this list since 1994 after Gilbert was retired from this same list after the 1988 season.

I wish more thunderstorms would happen right in my area. Both yesterday and today, I heard it about 5 or 6 times and that was it.

What is so annoying to me is during long-form programming, depending on what show is on, they'll have a "local on the 8s" by showing the LDL bar, but no radar, like the local on the 8s shows. Just the normal LDL bar that you see when OCMs are reporting the weather like during "Day Planner". The LDL bar during long-form programming is no local on the 8s!

Any chance it might affect Alabama?

Well, that's 2 Dr. Gregs they have now, as specialists.

Do u live in Georgia? I ask that because Georgia has a lot of small counties.
Per his profile he lives in Massachusetts, although that state also has pretty small counties.
Yes, I saw. Yeah, it does, it's a small state also.

That's actually perfectly normal, and ones that only serve one county are rare and usually seen in the middle of a large county. The most programmed counties are usually seen around areas with numerous county boundaries in a short area..

(either that, or it's the fact that I live in an area with 4 counties in a small area.)

I'm rather surprised at this jump in intensity.  A plane did record the wind speeds, so I can't argue the result.  It still doesn't look great in organization, so I'm not sure what will happen to Ernesto.
This is the time of year, though, when the hurricane season typically starts to get more active. With a possible El Nino developing, however, maybe this season won't be that bad. Remember the 2004 and 2005 seasons? I hope we never see hurricane seasons like those two years again.

OCMs / Re: Rebecca Miller?

I know she was there in 1985.  She went by Rebecca Erwin at the time.
Well no wonder I don't recognize that name. That was before I started watching TWC and when I was too young to remember.

I would check and see that there aren't multiple warnings being issued because there are IntelliStars that do serve more than one county around its viewing area.

That's part of it, there were also flash flood warnings but late last night (Between midnight and 7 am), my area was hit hard, a lot of the things I described im my opening post in this thread seemed to be the case.
