Although I think it's pretty neat to see the IS2 now, I'll still miss 24629 :(
Is the 5-digit IntelliStar ID number still relevent?

Severe Weather / Re: Severe Weather 2014

The closest damage to me Monday night was in nearby Bessemer. An apartment complex behind a hospital sustained heavy damage. We almost went to our basement until we saw that it was not headed our way afterall. Scary night.

I think the reason it wasn't nearly as bad Tuesday is because there was a lot of rain and thunderstorms along the gulf coast (which caused devastating floods) and that robbed this part of the state of moisture and instability. I hope this won't be the only event of this spring, but that the next one won't be quite like this one was.

It has been quiet thus far this year, for the most part. However, things are starting to get very active. I'd hate to be in Little Rock, Arkansas tomorrow. Major threat there, and it will be a very slow-moving system, so it will be a multi-day severe weather outbreak. Threat of tornadoes tomorrow through Wednesday. Dr. Forbes has some high numbers, as well. 7/10 tomorrow.

One of these days I will make it down there...I'm only about an hour and a half away.
Where do you live? If you live near Atlanta he is not at TWC anymore. Hasn't been for 5 years. He's in State College, Pennsylvania with Accu Weather now. He was at TWC for 27 years and has been at Accu Weather for 5 years.

I was at an event that I go to every year called the Southeast Severe Storms Symposium held at Mississippi State University. They have certain keynote speakers and presentations via power point. 2 of the keynote speakers are in the picture with me. I really enjoyed it.

Speaking of Mark Mancuso, I had the honor of eating out with him this past Saturday night. I am in the middle and the other man, Jim Edds, went to the Philippines last November and shot footage of the devastating Typhoon.

I was definitely not expecting that at all.  :o Shocked, but pleasantly shocked! :) I thought once these veteran ocms are gone, they're gone, never to return.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: DirecTV Dropping TWC
« on: March 14, 2014, 03:21:02 PM »
You've got Jim Cantore saying that TWC is a life-saving network, providing up to the minute information. Yet when TWC was on DirecTV, you would not get local weather information on any severe weather alerts such as watches or warnings due to the non-locality of Satellite, unless you paid to have local information based on your zip code.

You had to pay extra for that?!
I was going by what I read on wikipedia.
