Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/storm-clouds-are-gathering-over-the-weather-channel/259911

The Wall Street Journal reports Monday that The Weather Channel’s corporate parent, Weather Co., faces a “deteriorating” financial outlook. “Moody’s Investors Service on Friday downgraded the company’s debt, saying it isn’t perceived by cable and satellite companies as a ‘must have’ channel, and could therefore be dropped by more providers or face cuts in carriage fees.”

Not Good News TWC!!! I think it's time TWC change their ways. Rumors now say WN comes to DISH on Wed. Those rumors also say that DISH's not planning to drop TWC but who knows now after that article?

OK, now Accuweather looks worse than WN!:http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/twc-boss-accuweather-can-not-serve-viewers-during-severe-weather-like-we-can/259447

TWC has a point but in order to keep their point, they need to be on every severe outbreak or on a night with a number of alerts. . I wonder if FIOS will get TWC back soon and if DISH will keep TWC after Wednesday. I Hope So!!

Anyone know what Accuweather has been doing tonight? Are they covering the severe storms and tornadoes live like TWC? If not, this could be a turning point for TWC and Verizon.
Good Point, TWC did well tonight and still is. I didn't watch WN all night, did anyone? Just wondering if they did some live coverage since it looks like DISH will get WN next week. I wish it didn't have to take severe weather to do this!

Sorry to those in OK and other states!

Looked at Zap2 it and TV Guide online, no clues yet on if WN is coming to 215 on DISH on 4/1. When TWC came back in 2010 after TWCast, How long was that contract? I'm just wondering if TWC is getting into trouble again/only one weather channel can be on DISH.

Did anyone see this before any of the locals?

This press release from TWC called "Original Programming on The Weather Channel Registers Double Digit Increases" talks more about the "meteoric growth" of primetime programming. Soooo, longform isn't going anywhere.

http://www.theweathercompany.com/newsroom/2015/01/29/original-programming-weather-channel-registers-double-digit-increases

That article came out before Feb hit. You would hope TWC thinks a little differently about longform now after the winter we had, the Verizon drop and the possible addition of WN on DISH .

I don't understand something, I read Dave Clark's tweets on here Tues night. If he know the weekends are a problem, why doesn't he do something about it??? Can't they cut longform off whenever they want?!
I do

TWC and your Cable Company / TWC & WN on DISH?

Anyone know when TWC's contract with DISH is up? Looks like Ch 215 is opening up as of April, and another site is showing an channel called WN coming online soon? Any info here?

Statement from The Weather Channel on Verizon FiOS:

"We were disappointed when late yesterday, March 9, Verizon FiOS dropped The Weather Channel from their lineup while our companies continued to be in active conversations regarding a contract renewal. FiOS customers have enjoyed a bundle of services from The Weather Channel including the network, WeatherScan, On Demand, a Weather Widget and streaming on mobile devices.

During a winter with record-breaking storms and severe weather, The Weather Channel responded with non-stop live coverage, including the ongoing presence of our crews reporting live from hard-hit communities within the Verizon FiOS footprint. This coverage resulted in The Weather Channel being the only major cable network to grow in February.

After recently renewing carriage agreements with NCTC, Cox and Time Warner Cable, we are surprised Verizon FiOS would deny their subscribers access to the best live weather coverage and expertise that only The Weather Channel can provide. They have made it clear to us that they no longer wish to negotiate, despite our desire to continue to serve their subscribers. We urge FiOS customers to contact Verizon and voice their displeasure."

In my opinion, I think Verizon did the right thing but AccuWeather needs to improve as it's launch didn't go too well. It seems judging by the comments that the launch was rushed.

If TWC wants to regain there reputation, they need to get rid of their CEO David Kenny. He is mainly responsible for the rapid decline of TWC since 2012 by replacing live weather news and weather documentaries with lame non-weather reality shows as well as replacing full-time veteran OCMs with Freelancers.
Does TWC mean they had "Non Stop Coverage" ALL Winter??? If so, that's another NBC Lie!

Well....Just watched TWC (had to see it for myself)and indeed FINALLY!!, DISH has true WATT! I knew right when WATT started, TWC didn't bother with WATT during longform for DISH & DTV. So glad to see that's finally changed! What's interesting tonight is they have a Winter Storm Pandora Banner that stays on though out Weather Caught On Camera. You think TWC is trying a little harder because the position NBC News is in? TWC is somewhat tied into NBC News.

Anyone know if DTV got the upgrade as well? If I remember correctly, doesn't TWC SD on cable have full WATT? So, it can't just be IS2s that has it.

What happened to Wake Up with Al (and Stephanie Abrams) ? Why can I not find any press of info about this?
Rumors? What gives?

Not that I miss the show. I was just wondering.  :dunno:

What do you mean? I don't watch it myself but I know it's still on TWC every morning with Steph before AMHQ With Sam.

Are you referring to the 10AM ET Edition of WUWA? That was canceled a month or two ago in favor of WCL with Chris and Jen.

Watching TWC, It's WCL. Wasn't AMHQ starting today? Was that canceled this weekend because of the Winter Storms?
