Local Forecast / Legacy STAR or IS2?
« on: July 26, 2011, 11:41:05 AM »
I was thinking about this....would you rather have a Legacy STAR or an IS and an IS2? If you choose the Legacy STAR, which one?

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / IntelliStar 'Goodies Pack'
« on: July 25, 2011, 01:20:38 PM »
I've had numerous people tell me that there is some kind of IntelliStar 'Goodies Pack' that was posted on the forums that had some graphics from the IS in it, but apparently it was removed before I had even heard of this forum, so I missed it. Is it still available online somewhere?

Thanks in advance! :)

Local Forecast / Returning Product?

I just saw a 'Heat Safety Tips' screen on my IntelliStar. Is this a new product, are maybe a discontinued product that has returned?

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Warning Crawl Issues...?
« on: July 14, 2011, 07:52:14 PM »
I'm not sure if this is an issue, but it's definitely something that needs to be addressed.

1. There is a FFW scroll on Weatherscan right now (only Weatherscan, not TWC). I'm pretty sure that the warning is outside of the STAR's coverage area, which would mean it shouldn't be scrolling...right? (See attachment).

2. As mentioned in #1, the warning is only scrolling on Weatherscan, not TWC. I think this is related to a problem that Memphis' IS had earlier today. The IS cut out mid-forecast with no audio.

And of course, I don't know exactly where the STAR's coverage area is, but I thought I would let you know of this.

Thanks for checking into it :)

EDIT: While I was posting, the FFW ticker disappeared, but the warning is still active.

Is he new? He was just in the DMC to talk about weather.com. I've never seen him before.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / 24745 Requests
« on: July 09, 2011, 02:15:20 PM »
Request #1
Our local Weatherscan serves Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Eastern Arkansas. Being that most units only serve parts of one state, this is not an issue for them. The ticker on the bottom of the screen displays the cities as listed here:

Bartlett; Collierville; Germantown; Horn Lake, MS; Memphis; Millington; Olive Branch, MS; Southaven, MS; West Memphis, AR

All of the TN cities are listed without a state abbreviation, while the MS and AR cities are listed with one. Is there a reason for this? Everyone in the area pretty much knows that Horn Lake, Olive Branch, and Southaven are in MS and that West Memphis is in AR. Could the state abbreviations be removed?

Request #2
On the squeezeback, 2 out of the 3 cities on the radar are on the edge of the screen. Is it possible to remove Trumann and Lula and replace them with Bartlett, Hernando, Forrest City, and/or Wynne? They are more populated areas. See the image below.

Thanks in advance! :D

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / 24745 Air Quality Issue
« on: July 05, 2011, 09:20:35 AM »
We've been under an Air Quality alert since last Thursday, and the IntelliStar has continually been showing Code Orange except for today, where it showed Code Yellow, when it is supposed to be Code Orange. (http://forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=meg&wwa=air%20quality%20alert)

EDIT: Air Quality Alert was just cancelled

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / 24745 Requests
« on: June 23, 2011, 11:22:45 AM »
On the 8-city product, could 'Eads' be changed to 'Somerville'? That way, it kind of matches with the LDL. I live in the area, and I've never even heard of Eads.

Also, this is a really small issue, but for some reason it's bugging me....

On the regional map, El Dorado is labeled as 'EL Dorado', with an unnecessary uppercase 'L'. This is labeled correctly on the forecast map.

Could this be changed? I know it's a really useless change, so if you don't get to it it's ok. But could the 8-city at least be changed? Thanks STAR Team!

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / STAR 24322 Channel Number
« on: June 08, 2011, 09:14:20 PM »
The Gulf Shores IntelliSTAR's hourly ID screen shows channel 32, but the actual channel is 42. Can this be changed? Thanks! (I am on vacation, so that is why I see the Gulf Shores STAR)

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / 24745's Getaway Forecast Screen
« on: May 12, 2011, 04:32:44 PM »
Hi, on STAR 24745's (Memphis Area) "Getaway Forecast" screen, one of the cities is labeled as "Hot Springs Nat'l Park, AR". Is there anyway this could be shortened to just "Hot Springs, AR"? Yes, there is a national park in Hot Springs, but it is much more than that and it looks squeezed together on-screen. Thank you so much!

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / National HD STAR: Background Glitch (?)
« on: March 13, 2011, 09:09:50 AM »
I caught this at 7:48AM CT.....I saw it again at 7:58AM CT. Not sure what's going on here, but it looks like the squeezeback's background is appearing at random times in the forecast? Maybe the STAR Team can help. Take a look at the video below.

EDIT: As of 8:08AM CT, the squeezeback's background seems to be staying up for longer periods of time, and it is ANIMATING. Maybe a new background?

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Wrong STAR ID?
« on: January 16, 2011, 09:08:45 AM »
I woke up this morning and turned the TV on just in time to catch the Station ID. I noticed that the STAR ID was labeled as 021436 (or 021438, I really don't know because it was on a 19" TV that I have in my bedroom, and I just woke up...:P.) I know for sure it was NOT 024131 like it normally is.

Thank you for looking into this!

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / IntelliSTAR Temperature Glitch
« on: January 08, 2011, 06:48:07 PM »
We have a slight problem with 24745. The low tonight, as seen on the 36-hour is 24°, which I know is correct. The Metro Map, LDL, and 7 Day shows single digits....i'm not sure what's going on here! Take a look at the pictures. On other forecasts I see the 20's...so unless the low dropped 20° in 1 LF....something's wrong.

60% chance for a White Christmas in Memphis......this has not happened since 1913!

Is anyone else expecting a White Christmas 2010?

Programming and Graphics / Interactive Trivia on Weather Center
« on: December 13, 2010, 06:27:00 PM »
What do you guys think about this new segment? I personally think it was a great idea. I know on weekdays I look forward to WC so I can call in, and I have even seen my number on screen. With Lightning Rod basically being a poof, they put Mark Elliot as the host of Interactive Trivia. As for Mary (the other host of LR), I don't know what they did with her.

For those of you who are unaware, this segment is on WC right after "Top 5 at :40 past" (so basically :45 past).
