I'll take another stab at creating a playlist, this time for May 2012 (I prefer one-month playlists). I may not be a big music aficionado, but doing better than TWC has so far this year can't be too difficult  :P.

Morning:

Event Rising - Shaun Taylor McManus
Religify - Euge Groove (last seen on TWC Dec 2008)
Going Home - Mark Krurnowski (last seen on TWC Sep 2009)
40th Symphony - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Freddie Freeloader - Miles Davis (last seen on TWC Nov 2011)
Tomorrow's Promise - Chris Geith (last seen on TWC Jul 2010)
In the Rain - Boney James

Daytime:

April in Paris - Thelonius Monk
After the Rain - Chris Geith
Watch the Sky - Ryan Farish (last seen on TWC Feb 2009)
Cafe LA - Shahin & Sepher (last seen on TWC Jul 2006)
Pamela - Bryan Hughes (last seen on TWC Jul 2006)
Hummingbird - George Winston (last seen on TWC Oct 2010)
Echoes in the Deep - The Event Horizon

Primetime:

City of Lights - Ryan Farish
Mirror Universe Opening [from Star Trek: Enterprise] - Kevin Kiner, Dennis McCarthy (1-minute flavors only)
Wake of the Martyrs - The Secession
Solar Sailer - Daft Punk (last seen on TWC May 2011)
A Loss for Words - Gooding (last seen on TWC Aug 2010)
The Gift - Third Force (last seen on TWC May 2010)
Jessica - The Time Out Drawer (last seen on TWC Mar 2011)
After Sunset - Vince Madison (last seen on TWC May 2007)
God Moving Over the Face of the Waters - Moby (last seen on TWC Oct 2010)

Overnight:

Away - Shane Calhoun
When Morning Comes - Chris Geith (last seen on TWC Nov 2008)
Inside - Moby (currently playing on TWC)
Night Wind - Ryan Farish (last seen on TWC Apr 2009)
Hunt - Nest
Snowfall - Chris Standring

TWC's taste in music has really gone downhill this year (not to mention their organization; the playlists are a mess ), so I'll list some songs I'd like to hear played again:

- Classic Battle (Sam Spence)
- Storm Chaser (Ryan Farish)
- Roundtrip to the Stars (Chris Geith)
- To Thornfield (John Williams)
- After the Rain (Chris Geith)
- Stormy Sea (Matthew C. Shuman)

This summer I'd also like to see Terminal Frost and Plurality (Gooding) to return; they're great songs for summertime, and worked very well in 2009 and 2010. I will say, however that in April 2011 Terminal Frost was quite suited to how it turned out, with the severe thunderstorms and all that.

I heard "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd at a car dealership this morning.

I'll see what I can create for a March playlist (this is a more generic creation than anything else; I've also created a Summertime one):

Morning:

To Thornfield (Jane Eyre) - John Williams
Night Part One Snow - George Winston
Storm Chaser - Ryan Farish
Perfect Emotion - Ben Kopec

Daytime:

The Olympic Spirit - John Williams
Proposed Solution - Ben Kopec
Fallen Snow - Matthew C. Shuman
Anthem of Hope - Ryan Farish

Primetime:

Stormy Sea - Matthew C. Shuman
Night Storm - Matthew C. Shuman
Heroes of War - David Robidoux
Survive - Doug Granville
Light Up the Sky - Ryan Farish

Overnight:

Simplicity – Stanton Lanier
Terminal Frost – Pink Floyd
Song for Lee – Ralph Diekemper
Return to Victory – David Robidoux

This list is certainly not full of smooth jazz like many of the others, but I do like many jazzy selections and they may come up in other playlist creations. No genre is particularly dominant, but I seem to like power, for lack of a better word. I'd certainly think my own playlist is far superior than TWC's mediocre January/February playlist    .

And for what it's worth, I'll throw out the playlist I'd like to see for June and July which I think is more fleshed-out:

Morning:

Songbird - Ryan Farish
Frail - Jars of Clay
Hummingbird - George Winston
Papa Was a Rolling Stone - The Rippingtons
Magnificent - Ryan Farish
Jedi Temple March [from Star Wars] - John Williams

Daytime:

Arrival of Spring - Ryan Farish
Windjammer - Ryan Farish
Disc Wars - Daft Punk
A Loss for Words - Gooding
Raider's March [Indiana Jones Theme] - John Williams
Battle of the Heroes [from Star Wars] - John Williams

Primetime:

Plurality - Gooding
Love Clears the Way - Gooding
Marooned - Pink Floyd
Proposed Solution - Ben Kopec
Layla - Eric Clapton
Can't You Hear Me Knocking - Rolling Stones

Overnight:

Sierra - David Keen
Overture (Star Trek VI) - Cliff Eidelman
Supernova - Ryan Farish
Station 6 - Gooding
Moment - Steve Glotzer
Anakin vs. Obi-Wan [from Star Wars] - John Williams

Now that above would be perfect for me  .

Apparently the "squeezeback attack" has been repulsed. For what it's worth, I got this reply from a message I sent to TWC via their feedback page:

We we were just doing some testing that has ended. Your lot8s have returned to normal.

Disregard the original post. I have called the Weather Channel in Atlanta and my Intellistar 2 recently came back online, although it is a bit wacko (LDL cuing over commercials, no data for some metro cities). The Weather Channel guy on the phone said that the problem was on Charter's end, and that the Charter people did not know what they were doing.

So hats off to the STAR team for fixing this issue  . And Motorola, if you haven't done so already, I recommend calling the Weather Channel in Atlanta. The number is (770) 226-0000. They fixed my problem on a local basis, so I doubt the outage is anything of a national nature. Just speculation, but it might be some changes to the HD feed that the cable providers can't handle without technical assistance from TWC.

The Intellistar 2 that serves Clarksville, Tennessee has been out for 4 days. With the exception of a few hours on the second day, we have only seen the national feed for all that time. My cable provider is Charter Communications and our HD channel number is 797 and our SD channel (which carries the HD feed since last month) number is 38. I don't know the Local Weather ID for the Intellistar 2 that serves us.

I contacted Charter Communications yesterday and the technical support guy said that all of their equipment (Intellistars) are functioning properly, but they are not receiving a transmission from the Weather Channel. In addition, the guy said that the problem was on the Weather Channel's end, not on Charter's. I have sent multiple assistance requests via Weather.com for the entire time period with no success in obtaining a reply or solving the problem, so therefore I have come here in the hopes the STAR team will be able to fix this problem.

The LDL is also not operational and we receive the national feed for that too. Since I do not receive the SD feed, I do not know if that is working or not.

Once again, I implore the STAR team to read this message and to correct this problem, which would seem to me to entail sending Charter in Clarksville, Tennessee the local feed. Having an outage this long with no weather information has been a real bummer here, and is unacceptable - a sentiment I hope the people at the Weather Channel share as well.
