My local cable company moved TWC from Channel 29 to Channel 4 almost a year ago.. Is there anyone on the forums who works for the weather channel that can change the ID at the top of the hour to read the correct channel number? I must have some sort of OCD but it drives me nuts when I see this..

My guess is it would be eaiser to sell blocks of programming rather than just plain weather. The shopping channels have went off the air for years. I think QVC used to show a fireplace with a burning log with Christmas music.. Now its mostly local choirs and employee bios.

I won't have any problems with TWC going off on Christmas. I would like to see a national scroll of warnings/advisories continuous and airport delay maps once in awhile.. There will be a lot of people traveling and many staying in Motel rooms..

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Is cable TV going downhill?
« on: November 24, 2008, 11:16:07 AM »
I am going to throw a few more channels..

TV Land.. Now showing original programming rather than old sitcoms in the evening.

WGN America.. Showing 3 hour blocks of America's Funniest Home Videos in prime time.

TNN.. Giving up Nashville altogether and changing to Spike TV

VH1 Classic and MTV2 were suppose to be strictly video music channels.. An Alternative to MTV and VH-1 But I hardly see videos on any of them.

ABC Family.. Used to be CBN.. owned by Pat Robertson.. It used to be 24 hour religion. Then started to become commerical.. Eventually old reruns of Flipper, and Lassie were filtered in. It became the Family Channel..  I think it eventually was sold to ABC. ABC eventually was sold to Disney. Funny thing 700 Club is still on ABC Family. Now its more or less another teen channel..

RFDTV seems to be close to what the old CMT, and TNN were.. I was scared when I found they were going to air Imus in the morning. But they haven't changed much. They have become better. Adding old Hee Haw, Pop Goes the Country, Crook and Chase.. As long as they don't eventually become what CMT is today.. They will be fine. My guess is someone will buy them and dismantle the channel.

BBC America is an OK channel.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: TWC Alarm on Star Jr.
« on: October 05, 2008, 12:11:15 AM »
Could it be a signal the Star might be deactivated? I think the cable company might be putting this Junior in retirement in a few days as our system will be combining with another neighboring town..  I'll try to get a sample and post it on You tube when I get a chance. I have no way to edit it.. SO I'll have to guess when its coming up.

TWC and your Cable Company / TWC Alarm on Star Jr.
« on: October 04, 2008, 02:02:10 AM »
My cable company is using a Junior. The tone alert was never used in the past but it is now going off every 20 minutes with no text.. Just regular programming..  Nothing has been issued by the Weather Service.

Anyone know what's wrong so I can call the cable company to let the know?

I have no idea how much longer that Jr will be running. Cable company is upgrading like crazy. I hear various rumors they are eventually going to combine our system with another town 30 miles away.. then I hear other rumors they are going to keep everything here.. I assume the Junior will be retiring.

Does anybody have any ideas how many Jr's are still running?

Thanks.. My recorder will make it about a 35 meg MPG file is there a type of software or shareware that will crunch it down? It looks like I am limited to 9000 KB in the message attachment.
