Good point, but I found it because Jim Cantore retweeted from it yesterday.

Dunno if anyone else has mentioned this but TWC has a twitter account that posts updates on TWC scheduling, including when they will be doing extended live coverage.

Seriously?

It does not make sense to me at all to say "if someone died it's the weather channel's fault for not doing coverage."  If someone died, it would have been more like because they were caught at the wrong place and couldn't get shelter and/or not letting themselves be informed about the situation.

While it would be nice to see coverage for a national audience about this situation, I would think and hope that most people in the area threatened would choose local media over the weather channel.

To say weather channel not doing coverage causes deaths is quite ludicrous, IMO.

Can anyone with Dish Network check during Longform and let me know if the SD channel has the National City Forecasts at the bottom?  The HD is working but was looking for confirmation that the SD is also working.  Thanks.

It's not working on the SD channel right now.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Re: Intellistar SD showing IS2 graphics
« on: February 01, 2015, 03:22:18 PM »
All XL units were upgraded to the IntelliStar Jr. a while back.  Nothing is letterbox in SD.  However, I have no idea why they would consist of the pre-launch IS2 graphics.  I thought those were all updated.

Check the date of the original post. B)

I will ask again as I have before, while I am in agreement with everyone on this forum about long form, does anyone have any actual proof that the audience as a whole (not just the select few on this forum) do not watch for long form, and that ratings are lower during these hours?

9
I'm not saying I like these shows either, but does anyone have any actual evidence that no one likes these shows and have questionable ratings, other than the opinions of the people on this forum?

According to responses to people asking on the facebook page, they are still working to launch the channel, with no launch date set yet.

Programming and Graphics / Re: The Weather Channel - LIVE ON YOUTUBE
« on: July 02, 2014, 05:15:34 PM »
TWC sometimes does live online streaming when big weather events occur.  Since the video is named "test", I bet they are preparing to use youtube as a replacement or additional option when they do live online streaming.  Cable providers would not be happy if they started streaming online all the time.

Here's an article from May that mentions it a bit.

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

It appears the IS Jr. is using the same transitions as the IS2, instead of the IS.  Does the mean the analog signal is gone, too, or are the XLs and 4000s still around?

I don't think that assumption can be made, it only means the IS2jr is programmed more like the IS2 than the IS, and this would be the same reason its old graphics were the same as the IS2's old graphics.

New IntelliSTAR 2 Junior in Grand Coulee, WA:

TWC IntelliSTAR 2 Junior- Grand Coulee, WA- May 19, 2014- 2:48PM PDT

This unit replaced a WeatherSTAR 4000 (Omak) which I last saw over 7 years ago.

Dang, another legacy STAR bit the dust. Vala's 4000 from Litchfield, IL also got replaced with a IntelliStar 2 Jr. (or whatever TWC calls it).

The same thing happened down in Hannibal, MO too (former XL location). I wonder if TWC officially stopped supporting the legacy STARs?

Looks like that is becoming the case very soon
