No matter where, attempting to your TWC Classics site currently ends me up facing a 500 Internal Server Error. This has been the case since shortly after midnight.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: November 12, 2014, 11:33:49 PM »
Today is the 1 year anniversary since TWC relaunched and I can honestly say that the channel is worse off than it was a year ago due to the following reasons:

*The deduction of Live Weather Programming hours
*The increase of reality shows that mostly have nothing to do with weather
*AMHQ
*The way they handled DirecTV removing TWC.
*The way they handled Severe Weather Coverage (Barely anyone watches the Dual-Feed)
*The decrease of forecast segments in favor of taped, fluff and non-weather segments on WCL. Some segments aired on WCL are parts of Long-Form Shows.
*Dumbing down the LOT8s.
*Dumbing down the graphics
*Numerous changes that are unnecessary (The Lab)
*TWC bragging how "Amazing" weather and science is. They spent too many times explaining the science "behind" weather instead of forecasting it.

I mostly blame CEO David Kenny for this as TWC wasn't this bad before he arrived. I hope that NBC removes him soon or sell TWC.
You forgot about the gradual sounding of the death knell on the legacy WeatherSTAR units (https://twctodayforums.com/forums/local-forecast/4000xljr-the-end-is-near/)

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: Question about IntelliStar 2
« on: September 28, 2014, 12:51:35 AM »
To correct Eric, what he said about the contracts is in no way confirmed from everything I have gathered over the years. In fact, cable stations have sold me equipment and Mediacom just gave an employee an old 4000...

As for plugging it in and getting forecasts... the answer is "yes" but "no". Yes for the XL, mine is still chugging along cuing a D or M flavor on the 8s... mostly D. This has taken some reverse engineering and three brains. Older legacy units... answer is still yes but with all of my reverse engineering efforts, I haven't been able to make much progress as the equipment I would need comes with a hefty price tag. Due to that, my II, III, and Junior sit in storage.

Now, would Comcast give an IntelliStar away? Doubtful. I'm sure that TWC requests them back if there is faulty hardware, and given it's still the most heavily used system in the field today there isn't a great chance of these machines sitting in an old equipment closet. Give it five more years when the IS starts to be replaced by the IS 2 Jr (if that happens...).

For those who say it's not possible for an XL to run without AMC 11... check out my youtube. I upload videos quite often. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9XWVJjbCUzImvznI1sHSpw
If there were to be an Intellistar unit (especially used) available on eBay or through some reseller at some point, I'd laugh. Same thing goes for when another XL unit pops up for sale. :rofl2:

I've also found out from Rick's Satellite Wildfeed & Backhaul Forums that there were symptoms over the past week described how soon The Weather Channel's analog feed would end. Although the analog feed would exclusively be for the commercial subscribers since the end of 2008, The Weather Channel was said to be fixed-key sometimes. One of the symptoms over the past several days included the color bars. http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/weather-channel-vc-2-3483212?&trail=30

Whoever is involved in posting information about the new episodes on that page does not seem to be aware that Daylight Savings Time is supposed to end overnight into Sunday morning.
