Local on the 8s split screen
« on: January 25, 2011, 04:36:00 PM »
Right now, 4:33 pm (ET), a Local on the 8s split screen.

Local on the 8s at 33 minutes after the hour?  :dunno:

This is actually the first time I've seen it, and I'm disappointed that it's just a national thing, as opposed to the local IntelliStar overlaying local information on it.  It could certainly be done.

P.S.: Technical glitch - when the split screen ended, a couple of seconds later the whole picture went black.  When it came back rather quickly, the LDL disappeared - no national or local LDL.

I was just about to post a topic on this.

It was slightly similar to a Storm Stories LOT8's, except it took up more space and it was showed the "Satellite" national forecast.

Maybe they're testing something?

Do you think it's possible that this split screen could potentially replace the seperate local forecast altogether?  After all, that's 12 minutes every hour with only the most limited of advertising.

I'd like to see a weather advisory scrawl on the bottom of the screen during this split screen, especially since it looks like the animated TWC logo won't line up with the LDL/scrawl's logo.  It seems like it will be rather distracting at best.

Bug report: the split screen was still in progress at :45 when the commercials had to start, so Vivian Brown was cut off, and the commercial took over, at first full screen with the national LDL ad in the lower-left.  Halfway through, the commercial shrunk to the split screen size again, but was surrounded by black.

1.) You're assuming I actually know math.  :bleh:  Reason why I didn't become a meteorologist.

2.) In the late 1980s and early 1990s I had the variable local forecast schedule memorized.  You could have named the hour and I could have told you when the local forecasts were shown.  So bow down before me, knave!

Also at :23, but not at :13.

It's weird how it has the HD LF.

This is just a test. It will have local information overlayed when it is used starting January 31.

Really?  I don't have an IS2 here, so I can't tell about the HD feed.  I happened to be watching the SD feed (so I could see the local forecasts - there's yet another winter storm coming), and there was no local information on - not even an LDL.
