I hope you guys understand that they will not fire someone just over music preferences.
They could if it's met with a negative response, and right now it looks to be that way.

This is another major blow to the Smooth Jazz format with the rapidly growing format flips of Smooth Jazz radio stations. Why can't Jazz get a break?

I hope you understand if we think you have no idea what you're talking about. :whistling: And we don't want to get him fired, we just want jazz back on the playlist full time. Guess you missed that part in our posts.

Same, I'm getting so sick of hearing rock everywhere. TWC made us spark our interest in jazz..particularly indie jazz. XM Watercolors just plays the bland type of jazz where I really could consider it elevator music, not TWC though.

Yeah, I've listened to that station at Best Buy once and I didn't hear a whole lot of familiar songs on TWC.

I had a feeling this was going to happen. I think I have said it before. TWC is going the way of most of Corporate America. Dont get me wrong I have been a loyal viewer for 18 years now, and have over 850 CD's with TWC showcase music. TWC is now owned by NBC, a member of what I call "the media elite" who serve as "gatekeepers " who dictate the culture and popular trends here in America. They are catering to a certain demographics' musical preferences (young people, women in particular - so to speak), in order to gain greater viewership (ratings). It is a bummer for those of us fond of TWC at its finest (1982-1999 IMO). I still watch TWC, mainly for the weather and Atmospheric Science part of it. However, they have become just another pop culture drone.

What will happen to the music on the emergency feed now that that jazz hating dumbo is in charge of the music now?
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

Nothing. I doubt they will touch the Trammell music.

Agreed. Though I'm more specific about NBC and refer to them as liberal. :smoke2: I don't blame NBC for turning TWC liberal (though they certainly haven't done anything to stop it). As you know, global warming climate change bad weather was an issue TWC talked about long before the purchase. But while going political wasn't their brightest move when they were owned by Landmark, I highly doubt they would've paid tribute to Michael Jackson.

Agreed. I have XM in my car and I rarely hear a song I know on that station. Once in a great while, I'll hear a "new" one I like, but I usually can't find out the artist (they don't answer fan email). XM plays what I've referred to as "safe" music. It isn't likely to offend too many people. But it also isn't likely to gain a lot of fans, except those who use it to fall asleep. :noexpression:

If they dare play Jonas Brothers music on TWC I will never turn on the LF until they do away with the JB music.

“I think we’ve been doing an injustice to our viewers playing, for the lack of a better word, elevator music on the segments for all these years,” Geoffrey Darby, the cable network’s new executive vice president of programming, said Thursday.
Translation - he hates jazz and wants to play the music he likes. I don't blame you Jeffy, but don't kid youself by saying that you're doing this for "ratings."
The thing is Jeff is that TWC is NOT the next "Jack FM".

*Barfs* From Scott Ward...

Quote
Scotty will be glad to create some light rock music for consideration if they will in fact accept music from independent artists...we will be checking into this matter today...if he had known about the change in format, he would not have continued to send in jazz compositions...
