It's not going to last long, that 80% will drop soon. Many people in my family were annoyed hearing rock on the LF..it got too distracting for them.
You know that pretty little button on the remote control? You know, the one that says MUTE? press it if you're that annoyed, or get your weather elsewhere.

Nothing wrong with people complying about it here though

Yes, but why should I if it's not needed? You can listen to your rock on B101 or on the countless other rock stations, TWC doesn't need to be the hundredth "station" to host it.

You can listen to your rock on B101 or somewhere else, TWC is not the place for it.
Again, it's management's decision. If they want to put rock on there, they can. If they want hip hop, by all means, put it on there. If they want Jazz, they can put it on there. You're failing to understand they can do whatever they want and that our say most likely won't make them change their minds. Again, if it hurts you that much, don't watch.

I'm not around here much, but as far as I know, no one ever said they couldn't. However, we can still bitch about it all we want.

Me, I haven't watched TWC seriously in years, so NBC's decisions don't do much except push me further away from it. Hence why I've stopped coming here as often.

True. There are always consequences. They can do whatever they want but there'll be major problems when the consequences happen.

Well Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so i don't see why we have to stop complaining about the change.

Exactly! The reason why I liked hearing jazz and newage on TWC so much was because it was a way for me to discover new music. Any jazz station we've had in town over the years hasn't lasted more than a year or two. And they only played "safe" jazz. TWC, however, was always willing to take a risk by playing music with blaring saxes, goofy sound effects and/or odd melodies. If it wasn't for TWC, I never would've given bluegrass music a chance. And I never would've known what Zydeco was.

Now they're becoming a classic rock station. Boring! And if anything, they're doing a tremendous disservice to those who love jazz, but don't have a station in town. I'd be amazed if there were many viewers that didn't have access to at least one classic rock station in town.

But I haven't watched TWC in years, so sharing my opinion with what's-his-face would be pointless. However, for those who do watch...I encourage you to email TWC your opinions. Make sure, of course, that your opinions are respectful. He probably won't change his mind if you call him a butthead. Unless this guy is like our president, your comments can make a difference.

Exactly. I'm sure they get tons of emails containing "The music sucks!", "Replace the IntelliStar with the XL!", and other immature crap of the like. Instead of saying how bad their decisions are, it would be more appropriate and professional to explain WHY jazz music should be kept.

But they have to understand, it's not about what the management thinks, it's about what the viewers think. It's the least they can do to keep their ratings up and stay on the air.

BTW, I did send an email about this to the management, and did make sure to provide a detailed explanation about my thoughts on this. I'm with Matt on this and encourage you all to do the same. And don't mention the fact that it will not work, because I've seen complaints outside of this site about the new selection too (Facebook, etc.).

I sent Mr. Darby an email saying it wouldn't work because they tried it in 2002...and it didn't flow in well. Most of the people who like the music hardly watch TWC anyways. but that's just my 2 cents.

Already did mike, i just hope they see our outcry and make the best decision for US which is a "Return To Smooth Indie Jazz playlist in August."

Since Darby is taking over, do you think Smooth Jazz will end since he's there? This sounds kinda bizarre.....or peculiar, but why did TWC hire Darby if he hates Smooth Jazz?

Smooth Jazz will still be on the playlists... just not as much as it used to.  I don't have an answer to the second question.  :hmm:
