As I said before, I don't think losing the 8-city observations screen is any big loss.  The regional and metro maps look so much better, but the 8-city list is simply left over from the days of the original text-only Stars.  If memory serves, I think the "Latest Observations" screen was even used on the WeatherStar I!

I agree, it's not a big deal to have it as a product anymore. 5 out of the 8 cities listed on the metro map on the IntelliStar here was on the observation page.

Hmm, now it's back. I saw it not too long ago.

I agree, it is outdated and the map looks much nicer and also is better to have a geographically perspective on the weather anyway.

The only STARs that the 8-cities were useful for were the FiOS STARs since they served larger areas, and as such the 8-cities would show completely different cities than the metro map. I don't mind it seeing it gone otherwise.

I agree they should show the 24-36 hr on 1:30 forecasts instead of 36-48... it allows more time for other products to show.

There are also weather-triggered statements that can appear in the 7 day. Here are examples on the SD and HD STARs:
Any word on if they're using this feature with Don's impending landfall?

My IntelliStar 2 doesn't show any text in the big box during the 7 day forecast.  :dunno:

I don't know what to say about that. It's probably just a glitch and it should come back. If not, maybe it didn't get the update, but it's not a huge loss. I'm not the person to ask because I'm a noob, apparently.

I think the 8-city observations are useless on the IS since all the cities are only 30 miles or so less from each other. Like the weather will be drastically different on a regular basis from that distance. In that respect, I just think it's redundant to have that at all when there is the map. I do like seeing the wind speeds, though.

The meteorologists have to trigger those alerts, just like they do for large weather events on weather.com.

No big loss?! It's a huge loss! It's the worst thing they could have done.  That was my very favorite thing about the IntelliStar!  I strongly disagree. There's an old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it."

Also, the 8-city list is not left over from the screen used on the first WeatherStar. It was 7 cities on those STARs from that one through the 4000 and 8 cities, beginning with the XL.

I still see the Getaway Forecast on the shorter LF's after a show like Storm Stories.

I would like the 8-city observations if the cities weren't so close to each other in distance. In my case, they used to have Alexandria (100 miles north) and Lake Charles (80 miles or so west), but instead there are cities like Opelousas (20 miles north) and Crowley (20 miles west). I would miss the 8-city list, but I could live without it. My guess is that that would be the next thing to lose even more priority after the Getaway.
