Okay, so before the IS, there was the XL.. When Dish and DirecTV got the IS LDL, did they have any sort of LDL before that? Satellite XL LDL?

I don't think there was - I believe they only started those LDLs when the IS came out.

XL is now black on national programming from what i believe. LDL is a better name, anyway.

Wrong. In September 2003, the XL was given the "black bar" LDL during national broadcasts.

Eh, just give the 4000 the black bar LDL and slap on the new TWC logo on the 4000's local forecasts, and vuala, an upgrade!  Just be sure to replace all the equipment   :-\
