Have you posted videos of this 4000? f so, I would like to see it
Also, as mentioned above, I hope to be going to Yale, MI during Spring Break in April. I hope that the 4000 still exists there. If not, it will be an XL, because Intellistar is not necessay there

I don't have that STAR, and its not my video. I live near Baltimore, not in Bel Air. Search YouTube for it.

The Rochester PA 4000 is gone. Replaced by the Istar early last year.

Theres one thats in Peoria, IL from a Mediacom headend, and its in good shape!

Back when we had cable, our provider was Comcast and they have always seem to be up to date with the WeatherSTARs. We already lost our 4000 back in 1999.

Heres some video I recorded from our IntelliSTAR (22878). The video above was taken last October while the video below was recored from April 2007.

I just hope Mediacom doesn't upgrade their 4000!

I copied the list over from wikipedia, and I was in a huge hurry when I did so. Either that is the observation site for a nearby 4000, or that was an error.

Yeah, it's sad :(
Although most WS 4000's that are being upgraded are being upgraded to the XL, the Intellistar is far cheaper and has more features. Most 4000's and XLs that remain exist in areas that there would be no point to have Intellistar. These include rural, sparsely populated, or mountainous areas. If the specific cable provider/headend decides that it is necessary to change to the Intellistar because the area is populated enough and coverage area warrants it, then they will do so. But if the area is sparsely populated and/or large, then the headend will likely either stay with 4000 or upgrade to XL if they have the money.

I was just typing that to respond to the 4000 being downgraded to Intellistar  :P
It is sad to hear about a 4000 going to an Intellistar  :(

Unfortunately, Bismarck, ND hasn't had a 4000 since the invention of Intellistar
