I work for Bledsoe Telephone in Pikeville TN we still use a 4000. sometimes I have to powercycle it because it will get stuck on the locals.
Wow! if I may ask, what does "powercycling" mean?

rebooting by pulling the power

When I powercycle the 4000 I remove the front panel and put the toggle switch for the batteries to the off position then power off the 4000 with the switch located on the back for about 45 seconds. then turn both switches to the on position.

In terms of who is allowed to post where, when, and why, this is, sadly, not only the strictest forum I've ever visited, but the rules sometimes seem downright hysterical.

Is it really worth criticising everyone who makes such a minor "violation," especially in public?  Maintaining order is one thing, and a worthy cause, but sometimes it just sounds like people are after a power fix, and that disturbs me.

I am surprised that nobody has found a Star 4000 for Wisconsin, yet. I know there might possibly be a few scattered around Green Bay and Appleton, in places like Pulaski, Seymour, or Oconto.
Oconto most likely sees 24808 out of Marinette and Menominee.

I posted something about bumping a 6 month old topic when you could have personal messaged him...and then I realized I went too far and deleted the post.

Yes, that's the specific incident in this thread that I'm referring to.  Of course, it's not an isolated incident in the forum.

The Weather Channel's studios in Atlanta, Georgia also have a few WeatherStar 4000s as well as the other remaining Weather Star systems, including the Jr., the XL, the Intellistar, and the Intellistar 2.

Makes sense so they can monitor their system.

Has anyone actually seen the front of a 3000? The label on the unit at the bottom of this pic makes me think this is one (even though they are all out of service)

That certainly looks to be a 3000. There was once a picture of the front of a 3000 on support.weather.com. I'll see if I can find the image at some point in the near future.

Here's the graphic which was used on support.weather.com in late 2004:
