TWC Lays off Staff
« on: November 19, 2008, 06:41:25 PM »
According to the following article from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution TWC has laid off some of its employees. The article says it is not known how many or who was laid off.

I didn't see this coming!

I didn't see this coming... so soon, but it isn't surprising. When networks merge or reorganize, there are almost always layoffs. Some positions only need so many people in them - and if NBC is adding it's meteorologists to TWC's current staffing (which we can assume based on the meteorologist titles on Weather Plus being renamed to "TWC Meteorologist"), TWC just doesn't need as many.

Hopefully, we'll find out what positions were effected by the layoffs soon.

This economic downturn is apparently serious enough that TWC is being affected too. That's not good. Several long time businesses in my area have gone 'out of business' recently so I guess it's not too surprising.

Yeah I hope so. I'll certainly be looking out for any information that comes out.

Oh Oh TWC let me choose the people you need to get rid of!

There you go. Simply run some old Storm Stories episodes in its place! I guess they can lay off some of their production crew too since most of the studio is automated.

Wow, this is such a shame to see this happen, but I'm not surprised, especially considering that when I checked the TWC job openings page a few weeks ago, there were almost no positions hiring, which just goes to show how bad the economy is going.

It's a shame for all those people who lost their jobs. :(

Definitely didn't see this coming, but like others, it's not surprising.

It'll be interesting to see who goes, if any on-air staff.

I hope none of the OCM's got laid off. The scheduling commitee is another name to add to Martin's list.

I hope none of the current OCM staff got laid off either. If certain people aren't seemingly coming back, you'd have to wonder

Terminate OCMs where there seemingly is an OCM shortage = no sense.

Where was this information obtained? I don't believe ANYTHING I read on forums unless its from a person I know is trustworthy, or a source I know is trustworthy.
