Winter Predictions
« on: September 17, 2008, 12:34:22 PM »
As we enter into the final days of summer, its becoming time to look ahead to cooler temperatures and even (yikes!) snow. So how does everyone think this winter will unfold? Will it be cold or mild? Will there be snow, or none?

My thoughts for winter in my area are as follows. Judging by how summer was a bit on the cool side (I don't think the temp ever climbed above 95), I think we're going to have a cool and snowy winter. We're already expecting to see temps perhaps in the 40's tonight, and we're still in September!

I think Winter Conditions will happen in the winter, in some place other than Phoenix.

Yeah, you usually don't get wintry conditions there.  :P

IMO I think this will be one of the coldest and snowest winters the East Coast has seen in years. I been going to the Farmer's Almanac looking at their 2 month long range forecasts (which is updated every month) since Spring and they have been pretty accurate with weather events on certain dates, they also released their Winter Outlook there's a link if anyone is interested.

The last time when we got a snowstorm was back in Feburary 2007. I think it only reached up to 8 degrees. For this winter, I don't think were going to get that much snow. I even think we could get some storms and maybe even tornadoes. Its only been 9 months since the rare Janurary tornado outbreak in the Midwest.

I think it'll be a pretty bad winter.  As Gary had mentioned earlier in the thread, it's already chilly in many places.  Although I don't know how accurate the farmers almanac is, as I really don't pay much attention to them, but the are calling for a "Wild, Snowy, Cold winter" (give or take a couple words) for the midwest.

I actually don't mind winter, as long as I can handle driving in it.  Last winter was one of the snowiest winters I had seen in a few years, actually, one of the wildest.

We'll just have to see what happens, but I think it'll be a good winter (or bad..depending on your point-of-view :D)

I have been having these strange snow dreams since around this time last year about a blizzard slamming the East Coast, one of the dreams it was a Snow Hurricane. I assumed it meant last year would be really cold and snowy, but maybe they're a sign of what's to come this winter.

Well, for the first time this year snow was mentioned in our forecast. The higher elevations in the western part of the state are expecting a few flurries (lake effect in nature) after this cold front moves through today. Seems awful early to be talking about snow!  :faint:

How coincidental! That is my birthday!

I predict no snow to fall in my area and for the lows to be around freezing for several days in the winter. I also predict for TWC to roll out new Winter Weather Authority/Alert/Whatever graphics in case if there is some major event.
