If schools would just cut unnecessary programs I think they would find a lot more funds. There is a lot of waste in my former public school system

Agreed Martin. For example, my Aunt is a teacher, and the district she teaches in just bought 50 iPads. Talk about a horrible/expensive investment. As far as I'm concerned they have no educational benefit.

I've been up since 11 pm last night. I'm going to sleep. Let the pundits deal with the politics....I'll read a summary in tomorrow's press, after I get some shut-eye.

I'm sure it'll be like last year. Good for nothing more than a few laughs. He'll take credit for the hard work of others, blame Bush for his failures, say we're on the right track, and (more or less) say "screw you" to those who refuse to see things his way.
Matt, you are correct. I could not agree with you more. Remember him lying about Chief Justice Samuel Alito and him shaking his head and saying, "That's not true. That's not true."?

I am probably in minority here on this board, but I thought it was a well spoken, well articulated, moving, thoughtful speech.  I am very satisfied with Presdient Obama's State of the Union. Those of you who want to nitpick and criticize him will never fully appreciate it.   <_<

How can you get any action when there was a lack of bipartsmanship on everything from how to handle jobs, education, healthcare, etc. The past two years have been nothing but a dramatic battle of the left wing vs the right with the media standing right there sensationalizing it to the extreme. Headaches on top of headaches.  :itsok: Personally neither party has a clear cut solution on how to fix anything, that's why should be trying to collaborate together instead of wasting time destroying the other party as much as humanly possible. Did you see how much money was wasted on campaigning last year? No wonder were still in the crapper.

I have no agree. I've heard a lot of great ideas from politicians on my side, but they don't seem to be "together" on specifics. And some, quite frankly, still don't get it.

The speech was exactly what I thought it would be. Nothing more than a "there, there, everything's gonna be just fine" and "we can do it!" type speech. A lot of goals. Some good, some bad (he seems to think the last election's message was "spend more!"). But nothing specific. Then again, that's what SOTUs are pretty much all about. It's just a big show.

Faster High Speed Rail, with current tech is possible. Although the fastest any land vehicle can travel in North America is 150MPH(Amtrak Acela Runs at this speed-Philly to Boston). Cost is probably the concerns though.

I'm all for the Keystone Corridor (Pit-Phi high-speed rail). It's been on the table for some time....would essentially link Pittsburgh to the Northeast Corridor.

I'd like a high speed rail here in Florida. It would save the amount of time and gas it takes to drive from Tampa to Orlando.

Mass wants a High Speed rail From Fall River to New Bedford to connect to Providence to Boston but they are stick in a rut, they are looking for a Bus Route along Route 24 if there is no compromise.
