The State of the Union

In just 24 hours, President Obama will deliver his State of the Union address. Last year, he made some pretty bold promises to Americans dealing with the economy, health care, and other issues. How does he stand up in your eyes?

I'm sure it'll be like last year. Good for nothing more than a few laughs. He'll take credit for the hard work of others, blame Bush for his failures, say we're on the right track, and (more or less) say "screw you" to those who refuse to see things his way.

Tsk, tsk. So President Obama is supposed to praise Bush for putting us in the deep doo-doo we were in, and still struggling to get out of?  He hasn't even talked about Bush in ages. President Obama has gotten through most of his plans in two years, in spite of a venomous, toxic, uncompromising right, and an very feebly supportive left. And he will continue to do so. BTW, the republicans have to step up to the plate now. What plans to they have besides trying to repealing everything that has do to with President Obama?

Well we've seen what the republicans do best...talk...and say no to everything. Now that they have the House, what are the republicans going to do? What real plans do they have for jobs and the economy? What will Boehner do besides cry?  Don't worry about the President. BTW, he has ALREADY accomplished more in two years than Bush did in EIGHT.

I don't understand why liberals are so obsessed with this. Yes, he cries. So what? I mean, if Obama's only fault was that he cried every now and then, then I'd be pretty happy with him.

Because it's all they got to go on. Healthcare is being rejected by the public, unemployment is at 9.6% and the list goes on. The only thing the dems can go on are personal attacks and blaming Bush. It is rather funny and predictable.

And let me ask this. Why is it now the republicans who have to step up to the plate? Does that means the democrats failed? The Senate and President is still controlled by democrats so I wouldn't worry about much of anything happening for the next two years. For the record I am just as much pissed off at republicans as democrats.

I ain't exactly thrilled with the democratic party as a whole. Some democrats, particularly progressives, annoy  me. But I'll take their crap and side with them more readily than the republicans. At least they don't want to repeal social security, medicare, and unemployment, and give endless benefits to the corporate elite.   

President Obama isn't Superman. He can't automatically fix our mess in only 25 months. This is like New Orleans after Katrina. There is still a lot of mess, still places that are ravaged. But as a whole, there is optimism. There are signs.

If thats true then props to him! I will admit the economy is recovering slowly.I don't disagree with Obama all the time but I don't think he is the greatest thing ever. People get worked up over politics too much.

The federal government can't do that. It's the state's right to cut back whatever services they see fit or can no longer afford. Although it saddens me to say this, as long as the state meets federal mandates for education, the state can cut back as much as it wants.
