Sigh. When is Congress going to learn to cut useless crap and not the important stuff?

Apparently Obama doesn't quite understand how significant of a role NWS played last year. Their budget for 2011 was $1.032 billion that year. The total cost of natural disasters that year was well over 20 billion dollars. If NWS wasn't around for those, then the cost of those disasters would significantly increase. That's not even taking into account the exponential increase in lives lost. Cutting the computer technology to get warnings out is asinine.

I would think so because I recall not very long ago late last year (probably after Irene) he said he wanted the NWS budget and federal aid for natural disasters to be expanded.

Obama is turning into a Corbett; he is cutting the wrong things. The NWS is one of the last things to consider budget cuts for.

LOL they could've just produced more money to offset the debt. I realize inflation will result, but so what? Inflation is already rising, regardless of the amount of money being produced so they might as well consider it.

I loved Rendell. He revived the depressing city of Philadelphia in the 90s, and then kept my home commonwealth up and running. That late 2010 quote is just the icing on the cake.

It's in the Presidents budget plan. But since its just a joke that neither party in congress will vote for you won't have to worry about any cuts.

I guess that's where the philosophy of democracy should kick in. What cuts would benefit rather than harm the majority of us while at the same time reducing the deficit.

A petition was made yesterday on whitehouse.gov to remove NWS from the budget cuts. 25,000 signatures are needed by March 16th. If you want your opinion heard, then sign this and get everyone else you know to sign it as well. The White House takes these things seriously, so the faster we get the signatures, the better.
