8.8 Earthquake Hits Chile

If there is any good news Chile is better prepared for this having experienced a 9.5 (largest ever) in 1960 and 8.5 in 1977.

Yeah the last time something like this happened was in 1960 when a 9.5 quake and tsunami killed 5,000+ people in Chile and anoother 60 in Hilo. I hope everyone is alright. I'm particularly concerned for Felipe, he lives in Concepcion which  was hardest hit by the quake

Unfortunately, living along the "Pacific Ring of Fire" puts you at a high risk for earthquakes and tsunamis.  We truly live on a planet that changes everyday.  I sure hope everyone impacted by today's event will be okay.

Also, the tsunami is finally approaching Hawaii as of right now. A couple 3-footers, and a 5-footer has reached the area.
