I know this may sound crazy, but I think TWC should go into Storm Alert.

1) Dolly is a hurricane that will bring a major flooding threat to south Texas.
2) TWC went into Storm Alert for Alberto (and Ernesto too?) in 2006 which weren't nearly as bad as Dolly.
3) I really want to see HD Storm Alert with new graphics.

It seems like TWC is actually downplaying this compared to normal... Just because it isn't striking Florida or a major city?

I like the inset radar.It shows lots of information during live reports or non Dolly updates.

Yeah, I wonder if south Texas and Mexico aren't as important as Florida when it comes to a hurricane?

I wonder who is going to host A&B with Steph because I can't imagine them doing a solo shift in this situation. Also, for the overnight, will they just do a four hour EEWC and a four hour FO to get through the night as opposed to getting another OCM shift in there, or perhaps regular EE will be three hours followed by a three hour EEWC?

Dolly is expected to be a major flooding issue for South Texas, so in this case it would actually make sense for them to go Storm Alert.

Storm Alert is for category 3+ hurricanes, not tropical storms or even a category one.

Well, obviously that went out the window in 2006... twice, in fact.

Hurricane Isabel made landfall in the US as a Cat 2 in 2003, but they still went into Storm Alert mode.

Even though Dolly's only a Cat 1, it still is expected to have major flooding impacts in South Texas, which IMO is necessary for Storm Alert.

Adding to Stephen's reply, during Hurricane Wilma,TWC went in to Storm Alert before it reached category 3 when it was heading to Florida.

Well, Steph is solo tonight on A&B.

And where do you get that their decision to go into SA is even based on the category of the storm?

I think they have no criteria for going into Hell mode, only when they feel like it.
