Thank God I recorded the 11 AM ET hour of Weekend Now on Saturday. I thought I'd be recording the (second to) last Weekend View in SD, but I got lucky and they went HD.

I found out earlier that I actually HAVE TWC HD, I checked my guide, and it's on channel 738 (as is listed there). I can't access that channel yet, because I don't have HD service. But whenever I get HD service, I will have TWC HD. :cool3:

It's deja vu with Dolly from last week. Lord knows I can't watch TWC until December.

Okay, TWC.  Tropical Storm <> sending Steph Abrams out to Galveston to cover it.

I am now officially SHOCKED they are not in Storm Alert yet.

That also happened when Dolly was still alive & TWC didn't make a storm alert

That's nothing new. They sent Jim Cantore down here in 2005 to cover Arlene, which only made landfall as a Tropical Storm. And this was before the hype machine really kicked in.

You know, a city could be slammed with 5 EF5 tornadoes in a week and a tropical wave in no man's land will still have priority, storm alert and team coverage included.

TWC actually did a fine job covering the Chicago tornado threat tonight; we had three tornado warnings going at once, and they were often on top of it more than the local stations, who kept being forced to stop their weather updates in lieu of network programming.

Heck, they're still even covering it right now with phone interviews to city officials and the aid of intrepid reporter Jorma Duran.

Can't those local tv stations get sued by the FCC for not providing continuous severe weather coverage? One of our Chief Meteorologists said that their station can get sued by the FCC if they didn't show the tornado warning banner at the bottom of the screen because it's for the hearing impaired.

They have to show the warnings, but there's no law stating that a station has to break in with live coverage.

For two of my affiliates here, they have their own station rule that says they will stay on-camera for the duration of a tornado warning in the viewing area.  They were on from 9:50 until 11:35 last night.
