the company changed its name to the Weather Co. from the Weather Channel late last year.

Does this by any chance explain why my DirecTV unit now uses WEA (rather than TWC as in times past) as the abbreviation for the channel?  I suspected something was up.  At least "weather" is still in the name, but it still makes me wonder what's coming next.

Comcast made the same change recently. Doesn't make any sense to me regardless of the reason.

Last year there was a survey by The Weather Channel on possible new names for the channel's id on cable guides. Maybe WEA was the highest rated.

My cable company uses TWC and TWC HD.

WEA is sometimes used because of confusion caused by TWC. ie. Time Warner Cable. It will vary by cable company

Following up on the note that the ID for The Weather Channel on DTV is no longer using TWC.
FiOS changed the ID name for The Weather Channel. The SD channel is now WEATH. The HD channel is WEATHD.

Following up on the note that someone noticed the TD for The Weather Channel is no longer using TWC.
FiOS changed the ID name for The Weather Channel. The SD channel is now WEATH. The HD channel is WEATHD.

This is the same case with AT&T U-Verse, except I think the HD name is WEAHD (without the "T").  SD is WEATH.

DirecTV is using "WEAHD" and "WEA"
I've gone off on a journey to be a moderator at another forum, but this place will forever remain home for me~

FPB is using WEATH and WEAHD. (They had actually used WEATHER for a long time on DTAs and on QAM.)

EDIT: Interestingly, FPB posted our new channel lineup (to take effect August 20, when TWC moves from 33 to 49) and had TWC labeled simply as "WEATHER".

I have to laugh at the new emphasis on weather.  I feel the station is doing the exact opposite - moving away from just weather, with stupid long-form shows such as Reel Rivals, Prospectors, etc.  Hence, renaming the entire station to "TWC" would have made sense.  But I guess Time Warner stole that acronym. :hammer:

They still can't get the lighting adjusted at the other desk area.

It was very bad, got better and is back to bad again.
I just don't get why whoever is producing the show does not ask to have this fixed?

Barring broken fixtures (and lack of money to replace them, which is unlikely), it's a stupidly simple fix.

Charter also changed the ID of The Weather Channel from TWC to WEATH.
