NEW YORK (AP) — The Weather Channel ran into a perfect storm of downgrades on Thursday, as Moody's and Standard & Poor's both lowered their debt ratings on it after the company said it would borrow $600 million to pay a special dividend to its owners.

Yeah I saw that.  Reminds me of that commercial a while back of someone watching the LoT8s and Allen Jackson talking to her. Does anyone know if that video is still online somewhere?

Around 8pm ET the studio lights were going off and on due to the storms in the Atlanta area.

Could this be why they are not live anymore?  I know the threat has died down considerably but I thought they would still be live, especially to cover their own state.

I heard our NBC affiliate WXIA-TV also lost power and were running on a generator during their live coverage. They said about 40,000 folks lost power on the westside of town. Maybe TWC is running on a limited generator power and want to preserve it until the power is restored. :dunno:

Were lucky, I live on the westside and we didn't lose our power, but the lightning was unbelievably AMAZING! The CTG lightning at it's peak was going every 2 seconds. I've never seen lightning flashes so bright and vivid like I have tonight. It was purple and pink looking. :o After the storms moved out, we were treated to a pretty orange-red sunset.

No, TWC planned to go to tape at 8pm. They only stayed live due to the storms in the Atlanta area.
That's why 8pm-9pm was called extended coverage.

The 1am 6/16 WCL was a rebroadcast from 10pm with outdated storm warnings and maps.
Not one live segment.

Numerous severe thunderstorm warnings across the Plains and weather.com doesn't even have it as a top story.  I doubt they're pre-empting either.  Ridiculous... <_<

Kelly is live at 1am. I'm guess it's just 1am and 1:30am with the other blocks from the 10pm show as the usually do.

Good grief, I wonder how much money TWC gets for decking their homepage out in these (what I think are) annoying ads.  Maybe that's the money they need to keep vocals on the LOT8s! <_<
