Weather for Chattanooga, TN
« on: September 22, 2010, 08:30:46 AM »
Well, since I go to school here in Chattanooga, I might as well track the local weather conditions here in the city. It's September 22nd, and the city is currently suffering one of the hottest Septembers on record. For the last several days, records have been smashed wide open, and forecasted temperatures have been in the triple digits. To make things worse, no rain has fallen anywhere for the last several days (until yesterday, when a measly 7 hundredths of an inch fell). Currently it is 71 here, mostly cloudy, calm, and the barometer is rising through the roof. 30.18 and still going up.

Couple of thunderstorms popping up around the Chattanooga area, but none making a direct impact on the city. Sigh...at least the temperature has fallen quite a bit...

Very cloudy and very moist. Not much more rain expected tonight, but that could change tomorrow. My hometown in SC, however, is getting HAMMERED with rain.

70 degrees and partly cloudy here in Chattanooga. Forecasts call for temperatures in the lower 90s with no rain in sight. There is a small chance of a storm on Tuesday.

Haven't used this in ages, but it should make a nice comeback...

Currently, it is 58 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Scattered showers and thunderstorms could impact the area later tonight as a low pressure system makes its way east northeast. Here is the local forecast I have made for Chattanooga, based off of NWS models:

Tonight, March 14th: A steady rain beginning early tonight. A few rumbles of thunder likely. Low around 53. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%.

Tomorrow, March 15th: A few showers in the morning will give way to partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. High around 60. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow Evening, March 15th: Mostly clear skies. Low around 41. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday, March 16th: Other than a few clouds, sunny. High around 62. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.

Clear skies and pleasant temperatures should continue for the next week in Chattanooga. Here is a look at the next 7 days:

March 15th: Partly Cloudy (60/41)
March 16th: Mostly Sunny (62/40)
March 17th: Sunny (73/39)
March 18th: Sunny (77/48)
March 19th: Mostly Sunny (75/52)
March 20th: Mostly Sunny (76/51)
March 21st: Mostly Sunny (78/54)

It's supposed to get into the lower 80s tomorrow, and then thunder quite a bit into Wednesday.

I have been to Chattanooga several times when there have been thunderstorms and I think thunder, for some reason, sounds even louder in Chattanooga than it does in most locations. I think it's because it echos off the mountains.
