Scranton Area Weather
« on: July 22, 2008, 11:14:51 AM »
I've decided to create another new thread to add to our growing trend of city weather threads. This will cover the Scranton area, one of my newest vacation spots having to visit that area for the first time last month and really enjoyed myself there. In addition to the greater Scranton area, this thread will also cover most of northeast Pennsylvania (such as Wilkes-Barre, Williamsport, Scranton, and Mount Pocono), extreme northwest New Jersey (Sussex/Warren counties), and south central New York (such as Monticello and Binghamton).

After seeing humid conditions, we will be seeing relief beginning tonight. A round of heavy thunderstorms will be associated with a cold front, which may bring as much as 1 to 2 inches of rain through late tomorrow. Cooler and less humid weather will follow the storms through the weekend.

It's a cool, comfortable night for the northeast Pennsylvania region, and temperatures this week will not turn out too hot, though we may see an increase in humidity for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tonight temperatures will plunge 10-15° below average across northeastern Pennsylvania. Some areas tomorrow, particularly in high elevations, may struggle to even reach the 60's. We'll see a bit of a warmup by the weekend.

Frost Advisories are out in areas north and west of the city such as Mansfield and Binghamton. Farther north, in upstate New York, we've got freeze warnings.

As of 9:25 PM ET:
