Bitterly cold temperatures spread across Alaska, especially in the interior part.

NOTE: Sky conditions were not available for Dawson City

Check out these frigid temperatures. A 8 mph wind in Barrow is strong enough to make the temperature more than 20° colder since the actual temperature is so low.

A blizzard warning is in effect for the southwestern part of the state, including the Bethel area. Winter storm and heavy snow warnings are also out for areas farther inland.

NOTE: I'm using nighttime icons for Barrow even for the day forecasts since it does not get sunlight this time of year (though it does get visible light from 11AM until 4PM).

It is a very quiet and peaceful Sunday evening in south central Alaska with fair skies and temperatures in
the upper 20s. While the conditions are just right on this very late winter night for those in this part of the country,
on the west side of the state there is snow falling. On the north end of Alaska, it is predictably much colder with
frigid wind chill readings.

Anchorage is expected to continue to have traquil weather for the next 48 hours or so before some snow showers
are possible late Tuesday or Wednesday and remain in the forecast for the remainder of the week.
High temperatures are expected to be in the 30s.

As you can see, I'm debuting my Anchorage weather graphics package. It's not much and it's possible this may not
be the final product. I'll have to see as I do future reports and if I need any tweaking. The current conditions site
I used is Merrill Field in downtown Anchorage.

I have not added the transparent byline on the photo yet, but to give the appropriate copyright credit,
the current conditions graphic page background is by David Burch at Flickr.

Wonderful work on your graphics package for Alaska, Paul. Where did you get those maps from? The Google maps I use didn't have the snow on them.

Also a quick heads up, not sure if you meant to do this but you have Downtown Anchorage on your current condition screen and Merrill Field on the LDL, and they both have the same current weather data. I'm not sure if you forgot to change the observation name on the LDL or CC screen, but I'm just letting you know.

Thank you, sir. I'll PM you about your first question.

It's likely I'll redo these graphics pages and make the LDL's have downtown Anchorage as the label,
except for the precipitation one. This is despite the fact it is in reference to the same site.
I'd rather have "downtown Anchorage" for the CC page considering that I have backgrounds that show
the city skyline instead of the actual airport. I just don't feel comfortable with the airport name shown
in front of a city background.
