Well, SnowManiac, I'm afraid even the economy left TWC no choice but to starting laying off OCM's.  I do agree that some better planning could have been done to prevent this from happening, but it appears to be way too late now.

Here's a thought:  If TWC wants to cut back on time with live weather coverage, why not just put in more time for the Local on the 8's and even their normal commercials until they find new OCM's for the weekend slots?  I remember local forecasts that lasted longer than three minutes each time.  It would make TWC look more like Weatherscan, which may not be great, but it's better than going through 8 1/2 hours of long-form programming per day!

An hour of long form programming on weekends is fine, but to show hours of it back to back again and to hear about a boy getting a hole blown into his favorite shorts from lightning doesn't help me figure out when's the next chance for rain is coming.

I completely agree with you.  This is a sad time for TWC fans everywhere. :(

The rest of the weekend schedule:

8-9PM Storm Stories
9-10PM When Weather Changed History
10-10:30 Full Force Nature
10:30-11PM It Could Happen Tomorrow
11PM-2AM Weekend Weather Center
2-3AM Storm Stories
3-4AM When Weather Changed History

I don't think no one will be watching three straight hours of FFN, ICHT or WWCH. It's either show new episodes or just find new OCMs to fill in the weekend slots. It's all messed up now.
Or here's another thought, they should put the three hours of FFN, ICHT, or WWCH in the overnight hours. My opinion, though. :hmm:

3:00am Weather: Evening Edition

I think EE's last day is Sunday 3/1. My guide is provided by Tribune Media Services, the same people who provide guide data to zap2it.

Mon 3/2 is listed as follows:
4:00am Weather: First Outlook
7:00am Your Weather Today
10:00am Weather: Day Planner

They're joking right? It'll be very difficult to record the primetime and overnight playlists now.

What are storm sessions? Is it Q&A with OCM's or more long-form programming?

Storm Session this time is a 1 hour program where meteorologists Jim Cantore, Mike Bettes, Stephanie Abrams, and the expert in the subject (this time it's Dr. Greg Forbes) discuss the upcoming tornado season. It is usually aired only for one week. Depending on how you look at it, it's more of a documentary than a long form program.

It's the former Q&A with OCMs. TWC did this a few months ago, before.

It's really good though, and worth watching...especially the hurricanes session. Can't wait for the tornadoes session.

Or if you have a TiVo or DVR on your TV, use that to record the primetime and overnight hours.  That's all I can think of as well. :(

The weekend schedule looks great for overnight! All Weather Center from 1-4:30am. So on March 1, primetime is still 10pm-12am and what about Feb 22?
