Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: September 03, 2010, 02:02:52 AM »
i just upgraded to Dish HD and noticed that the regular SD version of TWC aka 214 is a sec behind the HD feed. i wonder if the Satellite InterlliStar is the reason for the delay. and also on the HD feed, they didn't show the "Dish Network" logo and "Sirius Satellite Radio" logo on the "The Weather Channel is brought to by you local Cable operator" ad they show, so I guess the HD feed is a raw feed not hooked up to any Star.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Weather.com : Hurricane Mode
« on: September 03, 2010, 01:56:12 AM »
sure it maybe an decision made at "30 Rock" (as in NBC Universal corporate headquarters), but Hurricane Mode sounds like a better name then "Storm Alert", because the term storm alert could mean anything from Winter storm, Hurricane, Tornado outbreak, ETC.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Cable Boxes
« on: July 24, 2010, 08:53:37 PM »
since i have Dish Network, i only need two boxes to control for TVs since they have the duo-tuner technology, so basically, i have one box hook up to two TVs and another to another two TVs.

they are:
Dish Duo DVR 625
Dish Duo receiver 322.

that's all.

maybe they are trying out the storm alert mode on the new LDL bar. hey you don't want it to mess up in the middle of "Storm Alert" coverage. but now in the "Breaking News" era of weather coverage on the weather channel, it's always Strom Alert when weather related news breaks, now isn't it. who said Storm Alert was only for bad Hurricanes.

this is a picture of the message that people are seeing on Channel 213, which was home to The Weather Cast:

so that means The Weather Cast is no more on Dish. the dispute is finally over, thank god.

just giving everyone an head up, The Weather Channel will go dark this morning at 3AM ET/12 AM PT for 30 mins to an hour, as well as The Weather Cast and most of the channels on Dish Network.

the reason: Dish Network is moving these channels off a Satellite to another new Satellite in the same location. The satellite that these channels are one right now is known as Echostar 7, which is located at 119.0°W and the one it's moving to is called Echostar 14, which will become the new 119.0°W satellite in space. so Dish Customers, don't worry about why The Weather Channel is gone. it won't go away, just go dark for this satellite transition.

i been following the carriage disputed and the 119.0°W transition on a satellite TV forum site called Satelliteguys.us. that's where i got the news about Dish's threat to pull The Weather Channel from.

edit: actually, it's this morning, not tonight since it's after midnight here.

looks like the Dispute is officially over, as i just put on The Weather Channel and noticed something that was MIA the past few days, and that something was the LDL bar during the LOT8s, so i'm guessing they turned off the Satellite Intellistar that shows the LOT8s/LDL bar during the last few days.
AFAIK, the LF LDL on Dish was disabled back in March when the blue LDL was replaced.

but they re-enabled in a while back, i mentioned in i think was the "New LDL bar" thread

12:12 AM Central time and it's still on, and now we see if The Weather Channel is removed from the Dish Lineup at 1AM Central time or 2AM Central time.

86
it's Midnight Eastern Time, and The Weather Channel is still on, i wonder which time zone they meant was when it was gonna go off

if you have Dish Network like me, you may lose the Weather Channel soon as Dish Network is the first cable/Satellite provider to have a dispute with The Weather Channel.

here's a statement on Dish's website:
http://www.dishnetwork.com/weather

this is really looking bad for Dish Network customer who are fans of the Weather Channel, but at least Dish is launching an new weather network to replace it, which might be better then long form programs and movies. but it's still not the Weather Channel, you need to contact both The Weather Channel and Dish Network if you want to keep The Weather Channel on Dish Network,

if not, make the switch to DirecTV or Cable.

let's hope NBC Universal cracks and and makes sure The Weather Channel stays on Dish.

i rather have both The Weather Channel and The Weather Cast then to lose one of them.

Local Forecast / Re: New LDL

update on the LDL on the LOT8s on Dish Network, the old LDL has return for the LOT8s after being gone for a few weeks, plus the new LDL is still working during the normal segments.

it is now showing the time on the directv ldl dont know about dish network yet

yep, it's also showing on Dish Network too, i guess Dish and Direct are showing the same national LDL and not a special Satellite LDL bar.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Comcast Rebranding Services to "xfinity"
« on: February 19, 2010, 01:08:57 AM »
another reason why they rebranded could be in the event the FCC/SEC/DOJ forces them to split Comcast up so that way that they won't monopolize the cable industry. they do have a pending buyout of NBC-Universal on there hands, they are waiting on FCC, SEC and the DOJ to approve of the buyout.
